    I just wanted some opinions on lifting my truck. I have a 2015 4X2 prerunner and I am looking to put a lift on it. I am stuck in between doing a 4 inch lift or a 6 inch lift. I know 6 inch lifts are very popular as are the 3 inch but, I want to get a decent ground clearance on my truck. I do not do any offroading. This is just for looks. I was just wondering if doing a 6 inch lift on my 4x2 prerunner would be a good idea or should I stick with the 4 inch? I know a lot of people think lifting 4x2's is dumb but, that aside. 4 or 6?

    Lifting doesn't make ground clearance, bigger tires do.

    4 inch lift is better, and would accomplish what you want for far less money/headaches.

    @ChadsPride is the resident MaxTrac spindle cheerleader, and @HeadStrong Off-Road is the best place to purchase them. Lowest price, free shipping, great service. Ask for Marie, tell her I sent you.

    Go with the 4" spindle lift. I did the spindles, Dakar leaf pack, Bilstein 5100 adj. set at 0 and Bilstein extended length shocks. Ride is a big improvement and lots of ground clearance to allow larger tire. After adding my wheels/tires, I felt it wasn't sitting high enough for the 4" so I went up to the 6.5". Looks tooooons better now! All thanks to @HeadStrong Off-Road and Marie's expertise! Got me a good deal too :thumbsup:

    What was your entire purchase to achieve 6.5 of lift? @Leo4x2

    4" Maxtrac spindles, 2.5" strut spacers, Bilstein adjustables set at 0, OME Dakar leaf pack replacement (provides 2.75-3" of lift), 2" blocks, Bilstein extended rear shocks.

    Was this truck re-geared as well? I am doing a 6 inch lift on mine next weekend with 35x12.50R17 tires. Some say re-gear. Some say you don't have to. I am running a stock 4.10 as of now and still trying to get a clear answer on whether or not I will need to re-gear my truck. My buddy said drive it first and if I don't like the performance then re-gear it and if not to just leave it alone and run it out of overdrive when I am not on the highway.

    I did not re-gear and I will be looking to do so next year or the end of this year. To be honest it's a personal preference. I am not running 35's or a heavy mud tire so right now I am okay with the stock gears. My gas mileage sucks (15-16mpg) but still filling up once a week like before it was lifted. My wheels are heavy so I do feel the weight and 99% of my driving is all hwy to and from work. I do have to constantly step on it in order to keep my speed consistent and that's probably where the re-gearing would help out a lot.

    But it's up to you man. I would have done it the same time as getting my lift but it's not in the budget right now. What brand of lift are you going with?

    Yeah I think I am just going to drive it to begin with and see how it performs before making my final decision. Well, I am actually getting a rough country lift. I can't afford them other high dollar brands. I know you hear a lot of bad stuff from some people about rough country but, I also have heard a lot of good stuff too so, I did what was within budget. Re-gearing is within my budget slightly just want to make sure its necessary before spending all that money on it.

    @Tattedmom26

    Spindle lifts are the way to go with 2wd Tacomas.

    You can get a nice lift and add to it as you go.
