Buzzy Vibration at certain RPM's..read before buying!

I thought Mike said this was fixed in the 3rd Gen?

 

This is a different vibration for God's sake. And Mike the Seat Belt Clip is a tool.

 

The vibration in mine really isn't that bad...it doesn't make my hands go numb like some people have reported. Running ethanol free high octane seemed to help though. Engine is designed to run off 91 octane or higher according to these specs...

 

Agreed, and why would I want spend more $ on a 40K truck to solve a design flaw. Why not sell the vibrating models for 20K.

 

My owner's manual says 87. Where did you get the above spec? I haven't had any issues fuel wise using 87. I'm not feeling the 2k vibration much either.

 

In my case and others, the numbness sets in when you have long drives over 40 miles. I drive 2 hours a day or 500 miles a week. The vibrating pulse in the throttle combined with the vibrating steering wheel was too much for me. Put my hands and feet to sleep.

If you charged me $15-20k less for this truck I would be more inclined to deal with some of this bullshit. For some reason, probably the abundance of loans with ridiculous backback periods (84 months?!?!), people seem to be forgetting that these trucks are ~65-77% of the average American's household income. (According to TorqueNews the average income of a Tacoma owner is $70K which put these trucks at 50% yearly income which is a little better but..) There is no concept of the value of money.

$35-40k is a lot of money to most Americans. Most of you would be pissed if a $2000 laptop started buzzing, flickering, or otherwise acting up. Imagine your cell phone wigging out on you--thats only $400-800. But half of the folks on here are willing to crawl under their $35k truck and duct tape stuff, paperclip a circuit so they can check/change transmission fluid (out of the gate), and spend $2k on an exhaust to fix a vibration that shouldn't happen.

We are paying a small fortune for these trucks, and I dont think its acceptable to have to deal with any issues like this. We certainly shouldn't be coming out of pocket a couple grand to fix them from the factory.

 

They should clearly state on the window sticker that this model includes special features such as:
Low ATF fluid only on Tow packages--add 1 quart
Buzzy throttle and wheel under power
Howl rear diff after 600 miles
Separating hood supports-at 5 miles
Front diff needle bearing failure at 5000
Trip computer resets at random
Howl in A pillar
Squeaky leaf springs after 1000
BSM sensor failure when rain/snow
Engine surge when in reverse
Transmission shift point flaw
Drive line vibration on Deceleration 10-30
And the list goes on..

Think a 75% discount off MSRP is fair to deal with the above issues.

 

I'm "getting my money back" by forcing them to continue to address the issues. I am probably over $10k in repair costs.

 

You would think it would have been more cost effective to do it right the first time vs losing almost all the profit in your deal. LOL

 

FYI I have it in the gas pedal and steering wheel sitting still at idle.
Last time I took it in (10k service) the Service Mgr went for a drive with me. He felt it, said his Tundra does it too, and said Toyota is aware of the problem and they will fix it but it may be another year or more.
I'm not holding my breath.

 

sounds like the torque converter and/or flywheel is out of balance.

 

I have a '17DCSB
and I didn't see any part # for motor mounts.
the drive shafts are made by Dana Spicer

 

Call your local dealer parts desk with VIN--They can e-mail you a PDF of your specific trucks's motor mount area with all the part numbers. Then ask them to cross check with 16 to see if the part was updated.

 

1300 miles on the truck and I finally took her on a 200 miles freeway trip and man it was the the worst experience ever. The buzz vib around the same rpm "2100-2300" was noticeable.

 

well I found my buzzing sound after moving my gopro around the truck, turns out its the cat heat shroud, I thought it was a heat shroud to begin with but overlooked that. anyway, issue solved sound gone.

 

Video please. I'd love to see which one it is and how much vibration.

 

That was a theory on my truck as well. We never removed it to test.

 

So you located a sound to eliminate which is good but this thread is about a buzzy vibration felt in the gas pedal and/or steering wheel. Did you have this vibration and if so was it also eliminated?
