I have never messed with the A/C while changing the TB. Just loosen the tensioner bolts from the bottom with a socket, swivel and a long 1/4" drive extension. Also loosen the wire harness that mounts to two locations just above the front of the oil pan for a little more clearance.

I found them in a YouTube video when I was doing mine but it looks like the video is gone. Too bad, the guy showed the pages right out of the book in the video...

The main one you need to really torque down is the one you need the special tool for. It takes 2 hundred and some odd Ft/lbs.

Yes, you need to torque the bolt down. It is probably only the most important torque spec for that job...

Torque it to 217 ft/lb. It used to be 184 ft/lb. but Toyota raised the spec. In '99 or so because the bolts were coming loose fucking up the keyway and the crankshaft. Once the crankshaft is fubared you are screwed. There is a lot of old literature and Internet mechanics that claim 184 ft/lb or "impact tight", ignore them.

The FSM says to replace the bolt. This is probably so the dealership tech. doesn't have to mess with degreasing the bolt and the tapped hole before applying green thread-lock to the threads. A new bolt will have a very small amount of thread-lock on it. I have only replaced one bolt. As long as the one being reused is a one piece flange bolt head instead of a bolt head and washer you should be fine. I "think" some early ones may have been a two piece design.

Blue will work I just wouldn't use A LOT of it.

"Like" the water pump or the water pump?...fucking valley girls. :D I think you are asking about whether or not the torque spec. on the water pump is as important as the torque spec. on the crankshaft pulley. Put it this way, if you leave the water pump bolts loose it will leak. If you leave the crankshaft pulley loose it will fuck the keyway up and the end of the crankshaft. I would rather fix a leaky water pump but if you torque it down to the proper spec. you won't have to worry.
