    Hey TW,

I need some help deciding on wheel/tire size. I plan on running a 3 inch lift, and originally was gonna get 17 wheels with 285/70/17 tires. However, virtually every tire in that size is Load E, and for a weekend warrior I'm not sure if I want to run a load E. From what I hear Load E tires tend to hurt MPG, granted lifted the truck in general won't help, and I also hear running 285 wide hurt MPG's in general too. Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs come in Load D in 285/70/17, so I was looking into getting those possibly. My question is how bad does MPG suffer from running a 33 inch load D, and even Load E? and how is ride quality affected? I definitely love the look of the near 33 inch tire with 17 wheels. My other option was to buy 18 inch wheels and run a 275/65/18 tire which I can get in Load C. Is there gonna be a huge difference between the two? and would the slight narrower width of the 275 help with less trimming? Any Help/Opinion is appreciated!

    Thanks

I run a toyo open country a/t 285 70 17 and im very happy with them . As far as mpg who know i knew it was going to be affected do i dont pay attention. On the other hand if i keep it under 75 mph i can get maybe 275 miles out of a full tank of gas

Thanks for the reply! I was looking at the toyo's my only concern was the Load E. Do you find them stiff or rough?

OP, E load rated tires are stiff but at that size there's enough sidewall for them to give on the road. They are firmer, but not uncomfortably firm.
If this is any help, I average about 15-16 MPG with 295/70-17 E load tires.

Pick a tire (or any mod) that best suites how you use the truck 80+% of the time.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I went from a E rated KO2 to a C rated KO2 for this set, I can definitely feel the difference in power and MPG, that 10 pounds of extra tire is noticeable.
Plus my SCS wheels are lighter than the stock TRD sport wheels so it all helps.

My buddy runs those tires and loves them. I plan on running some method race wheels which will lighten the weight of from stock, I appreciate the feedback!
