Anyone know of any nice trails in the Fort Bragg area? I'll probably be going alone (unless you want to come with me) so I'm not looking for anything ridiculous, just somewhere fun and away from the masses.

There are quite a few logging roads in the area. Scenery isn't always great unless you like clear cuts.

Check the condition of Usal before you head up there. It's usually subject to seasonal closure.

If you're already in the area at least check out the beach. It's only 6 or 7 miles from the Pavement. I only say do it during the week cause fort Bragg/Ukiah kids turn that place into party central during the weekend. Only had a couple drunks wander through our camp and heard a couple fights. But still a pretty nice area.
you also don't have to pay because chances are someone jacked the paybox.

Usal is 26 miles of good fun, but is currently gated off for the wet season but you can still access the beach from the south (Rt 1) end, the gate is north of the beach access. There's no one on the stretch from Shelter Cove to the beach, then from the beach to Rt 1 there's usually some traffic.

All the roads in the King Range are good but only a handful go all the way through, most dead end and/or are gated.

Sherwood Road out of Ft Bragg is good going over to 101, but it is also gated for the wet season about 2 miles east of Ft Bragg.

You can email Mendo County Highway Dept, they are really good about answering with closure info and anticipated dates to open the road.

This is near Usal Beach on Usal Rd

King Peak Road has 6 or 7 water crossings

Saddle Mtn Rd has some sweet ocean views if the clouds aren't too low
