You've obviously never used a prybar, the angles in this scenario don't make sense.

Anyone with half a brain cell wouldn't try to gain access with a prybar through the tailgate when they could just pry up the tonneau. And if they were intent on defeating the tailgate then the obvious way would be to pry from the sides, not the top.

But the real proof that this damage was not caused by a crowbar is the dent in the bumper that lines up vertically with the rest of the damage.

Then please enlighten me on why the point of impact is leading downward underneath the cover and how the cover is undamaged other than the weather stripping? The dent lining that you claim go in a straight line is how metal bends when there is an extreme change in the proximity. But you can go ahead and insult people with half a brain cell if being condescending gets you off. :jerkoff:

Hard to believe for me that this is from an attempted break in.

If this was a pro hockey game (not sure OP's post didn't say) there are at least 10,000+ people there with a decent amount of secuity/bystanders even during ice time. Most criminal's wouldn't risk breaking into something they don't know for sure is there.

They're more likely to smash and grab with windows, not locked tonneau's and tailgates.

Hope you get to the bottom of it are able to get it fixed with little to nothing out of pocket.

MY GUESS. A utility vehicle such as electric truck or tv/internet service truck was backing up and it's out-rigging got you.

    Sorry to hear man. Sucks.

I do have some tailgates left. They are all white 2017, brand new off the Tacoma's from the lot. They do not come with keys, so you cannot lock. $350 for ya, but you have to pick up in City of Industry CA 91744

Fair enough, I connected "You've obviously never used a prybar" with the rest of the statement aimed towards myself. But I have indeed used plenty different method for prying and opening in my lifetime, and yes, pry bars/crow bars is one of those methods.

This was on a street somewhere in the vicinity of the arena. I'm pretty sure dirtbags who break into cars wouldn't be fazed by the security and others inside the hockey arena blocks away.

We had some guy rob a pregnant woman at a well known drug store in our area with multiple security cameras and witnesses in the middle of day light recently. This statement is accurate.

I didn't say it was impossible. I just said thieves are more likely to go after what they KNOW is there. Hence the motto, "out of sight, out of mind".

Drug store pretty much says it all...they're gun free zones!

What kind of tonneau cover is that?

I don't see panels, so I don't think it's the factory cover. Looks like one continuous cover, which (based on my limited knowledge of covers) seems less secure than the paneled covers.

This was my guess. Prying up the tonneau. I didn't see a dent on the bumper. I'm not familar with the factory tonneau covers and how secure they may or may not be.
