Okay, gentlemen. I must depart. I've got some wrenching to do in a few hours and I should probably sleep first. I love you all, but Kevin, tonight, you're a badass.

You should probably go sleep off that wine.

Apparently, in my haste to keep up in this goddam thread, I missed this post.

Then clearly, you haven't had a good wine yet.

Here's the other thing: my wife's been working in the wine industry since she was 18, and I've also been immersed in it since then. There are good wine's, and terrible wine's. Good cheap wines, and terrible expensive wines. Really good expensive wines, and terrible cheap wines. The spectrum is SO BROAD that one cannot simply rule out the whole based on a few experiences. It takes time to find the one you like. But once you find it, you'll start branching out and appreciating all the others.

Just gotta keep an open mind to it. Sometimes it's an acquired taste, other times you just find that one that opens the door to a while new world.

Yup there is only 4 guys and me on a crew. We usually don't run it all at the same time. It's what ever the grid is calling for. I've been here 18 years and now the foreman. We also provide steam to manufacturing company's around us.

We don't have any maintenance here at night we just fix things on the fly. 2 of the boilers are coal burning. All of the rest can be natural gas or diesel fired. The two jets are also diesel.

At our plant, we know have 1 boiler that's usually dust-fed (from the wood we sand down) otherwise it's also natural gas. Funny that dust burns hotter than gas....

Yup, we used to mix shredded tires with coal and burn that so the slag which was like lava coming through the hole in the bottom of the boiler would break when it hit the slag tank of water. This is a pretty old plant built in the early 30's.
