does anyone know, where to find some cad files of king shocks or fox shocks? or anything useful for a build? or a really good website?

I highly doubt anybody will have the inside details available; that is intellectual property that I am sure King or Fox want to keep confidential. The external dimensions alone won't be of much good for any type of in depth analysis.

I use Civil3D everyday, used solidworks in school. Solidworks would probably be easier to model an assembly, you're probably best off measuring a set of shocks, not sure where you would find drawings and if they would be the same shocks. At least if you measure them you know the numbers are right.

But when taking your own measurements you have no clue what the tolerances are. You only have data for that one specific strut. I am not sure what the OP's intentions are with the data, but from a mechanical perspective, not having tolerance ranges and material specificaions yeild those numbers useless.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You're reading into it too deep. He only wants the outer dimensions for a LT set-up.

Yessir!!! i use both plus Pro-E 4.0 (which is the best designing program out in my opinion)

Baaaa! I had to switch from Unigraphics to Pro/E about three years ago. 5.0 is a vast improvement, but I still spend 80% of my day swearing at this program! I find it has huge weaknesses with large assemblies and how they transmit parameters between parts.

    Solid Edge ST, FTW!

To the OP, I would email Fox or whomever, and explain what you want to do. They can provide a CAD drawing to give you what you need to design a suspension, without giving you any proprietary inside the shock details.

I do this all the time at work. Vendors are usually cooperative.

thanks, for all your input you guys, you've given me some good ideas, but i'm going to have to put my designing on hold for now... I just started my job at camburg today, and on top of that i'm working on my AA in welding technology at night, so no more time to working on the design.. (weekends i guess)
