I realized recently that I should probably invest in a CB if I do off-roading and all that good shiz. I mentioned this to my dad and he got all excited. Dug up his old one and gave it to me.



Older than dirt but it'll get me by for a while!

 

I gave it to my FIL. It's been sitting ever since.



Like 10 years sitting, I'm sure if I took it back then he was "just about to use it."
Hoarder problems.

 

I ran a 2-meter/440 dual-band handheld for several years until I went into a combat comm and the hobby looked exactly like work. It's still around here somewhere, but needs a new nicad battery. The cool think about it was I could hook it to a separate antenna I had outside the house, an antenna on the car, or use its dongle - it was a go-anywhere do-anything radio. It was $350 in 1996.

Now, these little Chinese jobs do the same thing for less than a hundred bucks.

Needs a new mic. Otherwise it's been peaked and tuned by a professional CB freak. Dude who did it lived the life I've never heard of, all he ever did was radio.

Back in the day I was big into CBs. Had all the shit! Tube base, D-104 mic, Moonraker beams sold it all for pennies on the dollar! Now you could get just as good for much less!
