I have 60k miles on my 13 and I can tell its starting to crank slower on colder days. Top of the battery looks nasty like its been leaking. I figure its time to replace.

    Already on my 3rd battery...2012 w/160K miles.

OEM lasted 3.5 years and 72K miles. Replaced it with a Sears Die Hard Gold and that only lasted less than 2 years and was replaced under warranty at N/C.

In Arizona you buy a 5 year battery with the hope you get 2 years out of it. The last one I put in was from O'Reillys.

I just got a free one from Costco for my wife's car. 42 month free replace warranty, lasted 24. They didn't carry the Interstate 27F for my Tacoma, so I scored one from Baxter auto on sale. I've had pretty good luck with Interstate, but the original Panasonic lasted over 8 years. Started up every time until it abruptly quit. I may look into a Northstar next time, but they are a little on the $pendy side!

Curious what vehicle? Miatas are the only ones I've ever noticed a Panasonic in. Loved mine. Lasted almost 10 years.

Optima is my only replacement choice. My trailer queen Jeep could go a year without any trickle charging or running and would start no problems. When I sold it I kept the optima and it is my jump battery now. Almost ten years old now. Had the same battery in my Ram and it started the Cummins no matter how cold (-29C / -20f) even though it was 6 years old.

They aren't cheap but they last and last and never let you down. The Jeep battery was a single that was my starter and winch battery so it got abused a fair bit.

My wife's Rav4 had a Panasonic. It wouldn't start 2 yrs ago but jumped right up. Knowing we'd owned it 6 yrs I said just replace it and bought a battery, being we are in a cold weather climate.

That night I discovered it to be the original battery. It was made late 2004 and this was early 2015 and 130K plus.

What kind of warranty do you have on the Northstar? I know they are good batteries but wow, they cost.

The OEM battery in my Tacoma was almost 5 years old when it began showing signs of slow starting. Never went completely dead, but why wait for that to happen. I've had all sorts of batteries in all sorts of vehicles. That includes Optima's in several trucks and farm tractors. They did OK, but NO BETTER than a few conventional plate batteries. And with the high cost, just "the same" isn't good enough. All the promises, theories, and marketing ploys don't mean shit unless there's some benefit.

Best bang for the buck.....Auto Zone Duralast Gold. Lower initial cost, long life, and no issues. There's one in my Tacoma now. Less than 1 year old. Last one prior to that was in a Dodge 2500 I had. It went 9 years and was still doing just fine when the truck was totaled in a traffic accident.

Having "the coolest thing on the market" meant something to me when I was a young man. Now that I've been down that road a few million miles, it's all about reality....Image isn't so important.

Plopped an Optima in my truck last month. I ordered it online for about the same price as a standard battery from an auto parts store. I know I'm screwed if it takes a shit, but if it lasts longer than the ~2 year norm out here I'll be happy.

I had the stock battery in my 06 for over 10 years. Replaced it early 2016 with around 190 000 kilometres on it.

The mild weather here in BC doesn't strain batteries too hard though. I think the battery would have lasted longer if I hadn't started running my fridge and winch off of it!

I've had 2 in my wife's 4Runner. The first one lasted 2.5 years. The second has been around the same, but you can hear it's not cranking as fast as it normally does so I'm guessing it's on it's way out. Will be replacing with an Optima to see if it lasts any longer.

I bought my 2005 in 2014, still had the original battery in it. 9 years!
