    @EDDO

    If your willing to be a tester let me know, pretty sure I owe you one for the pre-dented bumper that we got miles of worry-free wheeling out of lol. Hitch isn't on my truck but it is being used by a coworker.

    None.... yet
    Do you have a cost or a ballpark figure for these yet... I've read the whole thread and didn't see it but may have missed it. If it's reasonable I'd like a set I think, hate to miss out on this great idea. Are there any other uses for these other than the phone mount? I've already got that covered.

    If you have not checked out the Ram Mount catalog, do (or maybe you don't :D). It will give you ideas that you never knew existed. :laugh:
    I am planning to make some kind of mic clip for my cb on one of them.

    Hmmm...a table mount for my bagel would be good too. :rolleyes:

    I have piles of RAM products. Both my snowmobiles have RAM GPS mounts, and one has phone mount too. My motorcycle has a GPS and phone mount, I have two boats each with sonar, phone, camera, drink holders and rod holders all by RAM. Then finally I have a portable ice fishing sonar (flasher) that is custom mounted using a RAM product. Good stuff, last forever- it just works.

    Final product looks pretty slick! I like the black but the polished look really appeals to me also. Great job on this bro, I know it's been frustrating dealing with the hungry gremlins on the forum lol You da man!

    PP on standby whenever these are finalized :bananadance:

    Pulled the old mount from the heater control area in preparation for seeing @Lostsheep this afternoon. Hoping the existing hole doesn't cause any issue with mounting the new one. :fingerscrossed:

    You should be good to go, I have extra holes courtesy of revA and no problem with mine. I did have to oblong one of my holes but the backing plate was more than enough to make up for it. Yours doesn't look like it will overlap at all.

    I will update the OP shortly but to answer your question directly, I am going to sell them for $25 for a set of 2, with SS hardware and backing plates, plus whatever shipping actually costs. I am not a fan of the USPS but their flat rate envelopes look to be the cheapest at about $6. For my local TW members, local pickup is totally fine with me but you have to bring your rig down and BS with me for a least a minute so I can check out your truck.

    My configuration for the backing plates is a little strange but there is a method to my madness. My design goal is to keep it cheap but strong. What I have done is to take aluminum bar stock and put counter bores into that I then press standard SS nylocks into. I can very easily tap the aluminum but I do not want aluminum threads and I want a nylock so they do not loosen with time. I could do nylock pems but they are $.75 each whereas the nylocks are about $.10. If I tapped the aluminum, thread locker would be required and I don't really want to do that.

    We will know more soon but @EDDO brought up a good point today and that is this install might be beyond some peoples threshold of pain. I don't think it's hard but the possibility is definitely there for drilling the holes off location and causing issues. He is pretty sure he can do the install without the amount of disassembly that I did to my dash, I want to see what he comes up with. The passenger side can be done without major disassembly but driver side is probably a different story. He's going to have a go at it and we will see. We could probably use expanding rivet nuts that would pretty much eliminate the need to disassemble anything but I am not optimistic about their holding power compared to proper backing plates. With the backing plates, when I wiggle the mount, the entire dash panel moves and where these attach is connected to a lot of panels in a corner, i.e., a strong location. Rivet nuts would not distribute the load as well. I guess these are the woes of trying to design something like this for everyone with different levels of skill and willingness to disassemble.

    These are incredible! I'm totally interested pending their ability to hold a full size tablet. I have complete faith in your product, I'm more concerned about the plastic dash pieces not being able to support the weight.

    Only time will tell about long term durability but I can honestly say that it's a very rigid pick-up point. WRT that, I have little to no doubt about lighter accessories being mounted here but heavier ones we will have to see. My iphone does not move at all on the standard length ram mount. Extended and / or heavier devices will obviously put a greater load. The weakest link is unequivocally the dash and not the mounts.

    ETA: your verbiage of "product" makes me nervous. I'm just replicating what I did to my own truck for the benefit of TW members. I am not a consumer products kind of guy lol
