Your unique mod on the 1st Gens

yea I saw that but it was a shot in the dark......

 

I'm working on converting my 1998 Extended Cab factory manual doors (locks, windows, mirrors, etc.) to fully powered doors using door components from a 2004 Limited Double Cab. I'm fabricating the crossover wiring harnesses and locking computer system myself since it would be bypassing the body-ECU/Integration Module. Here's my build thread (still a work in progress!)

Question: Wouldn't the parts from a 98 Limited (like mine) be more plug and play?

 

Not at all, all power components across the entire line of 1st gen Tacomas should be inter-compatible. In 2001 Toyota re-designed the interior of the Tacoma giving you the more modern door panels instead of the switches just thrown onto the armrest like in the '95-'00 models.

The '01-'04 door panels in my opinion look a lot better. I could have used the '95-'00 style door panels and avoided replacing them by just finding a donor truck with the correct armrests for the switches, but '95-'00 Tacomas with power options are incredibly rare. I will have to get the wider door speakers, or cut some of the existing speaker grille out since the '95-'00 style interior uses round speakers, while '00 forward used elongated ones. The newer style also has tweeters present in the doors while the earlier style does not.

It really will only be plug and play if you have the 4 kick panel connectors present for power doors. If not, you will have to fabricate the wiring, electrical, and computer modules like I have to do. (Since we're bypassing the integration module)

Did some raptor style lights with 1.75" motorcycle bullet lights with turn signals. .never seen with the added turn signal Turn Signal onRunning light plus turn

I picked this center console from pep boys compartment locks with key plus 4 cup holders lol 2 front 2 rear ,but ive seen almost same one on ebay

Yes cut and weld but not a lot of work just small mods used all factory floor holes and bolts ,also had to switch seatbelts the neon belt latch didnt work with the toyota

 

If done right, it's a worthwhile endeavor. Ran across another member that dropped some power/heated Subaru Forester seats in. Great result. I might have to put this on the list.

 

They are awesomely comfortable and recline all the way back which is nice too,and you can buy a kit for these to cut out sections and install 5 pt harness ,these are basically same exact seats as viper but without 5pt cutouts

 

Srt neon seats are basically same as srt viper except without 5 pt and alot cheaper to find

 

Going commando on my shifters latest mod. The grey vinyl boots were getting worn and my wife didn't like the cup holder sticking out on passenger side. Stainless plate had surface rust so painted with plastic coat rustolium.

Planning to trim out the carpet edge and glue down. Will use front remaining brackets for gauge mount plate and planning to put a phone mount behind the 4wd shifter. Will update as it goes...

 

Here's an update to my power window, mirror, and lock retrofit. All the wiring is done. I just need to fit the terminal blocks, relays, fuse block, and locking computer inside a project enclosure to make it a little more neater. All the parts are genuine OEM components out on '04 Limited Double Cab.

Everything works great. I'm planning on motorizing the rear vent windows of my extended cab utilizing the double cab switches on my master switch. I might even motorize the rear sliding window if I can figure out a worm gear system.

Once I get my new window regulator in, I'll put it all in the truck.
