My HF utility trailer now has removable kayak racks. Can't decide if I want to put some sides on the thing or not.

With that said, with the aid of an Porter Cable cordless driver and an end wrench, a person can put the entire trailer together in 2 hours.

Is that only available through the website or do any of the stores carry it? Curious how they beat you up on the shipping. Looks like a damn fine deal and with a little customizing the options are numerous.

I have 2 stores within 45 minutes of me. Both had the trailer kits in stock.

Only thing im pissed about, the price was $300 9 days ago when i bought the kit. They are now on sale this weekend for $250. Gonna try tomorrow and see if i can get store credit for the $50.

Regardless, I'm impressed with what you get for the money.

I have bought 2 trailers from harbor freight in the past.
One was a small boat trailer, a 5x8 mower trailer with ramp. Neither were stocked items in store. Shipping I remember was quite steap, but they ship to store for free. So I made the hour drive to the store (now a store is 5 mins from my house).
Only crappy part was I could not order the trailer over the phone. I had to do it at the store in person. So had to drive there twice.

I used to love the place. Now that I have a local one I stop in a bunch and the rude employees makes me less interested in stopping.

Mine has some very nice Hispanic girls.

I always wear my sunglasses since my wife is often shopping with me.

    I'm married, not dead.

    I'm 32.

I don't see the appeal of working for HF as an attractive, 20s female. Can't fathom working for minimum wage and dealing with tweakers half the day (your region may vary) selling budget tools.

    If I was a girl..

At the local HF it's hard to find employees and the cashiers seem to not have been able to get a job at fast food food stores. Sometimes it's comical but most times just annoying.

I have seen several reports of the newer vises breaking, your report of finding a bolt in the casting (is that correct?) is especially disturbing as to me it indicates one of two things: 1) the bolt was in the crucible along with the molten iron--i.e. it was not removed from whatever scrap was being melted down; or 2) it got tossed into the mold to fill up space. The latter is the more aggregious as it had to be deliberate, not just a QC issue.

Obviously regardless of how it got in there it was not a homogenous part of the casting and would undoubtedly create all sorts of stress lines causing the casting to fail.

    ------------------------
FWIW in checking the specs for the currently offered 5" combination vise I find it listed as weighing 34.75 lbs. My older example is well over 50 lbs...

Well, The iron used to cast the vise is undoubtedly, made up with old scrap iron,"junk cars". So either the bolt was part of the scrap iron; and didn't get to the fully molten stage; or it was placed in later.

But the crude casting; that was covered over with some type of body putty; is more disturbing. They saw something was wrong and chose to cover it up.

Those 6 ton stands are great! I just picked up a pair to install my lift. The 3 ton ones I had just aren't tall enough.
