Yeah unlike other stores they actually tend to employee guys who know things about vehicles. When i bought my FJ40 the PO had a set of locking lug nuts that I didnt discover till i got it home. Did the good old hammer a regular socket on it to get it off trick. But went there to buy the cheapest socket i could for it and told the guy what I was doing. He went in the back and gave me one for free. From a set that had been damaged.

Which by the way locking lug nuts make me just smile now. Sort of just one of those things like having a padlock. Keeps the kid from a snatch and grab but a thief with half a brain and tools cans still get it easy.

Long story short if you need to borrow the crimper just let me know. I wont need it for a few months so would just need it back by then

I appreciate it. Might take you up on it. Today was my first day at the new gig, and I'm not real sure when I'll be going on a trip, so I may or may not look you up depending on location and/or tax money timing.

It isn't the baby part for me. It's the wife not working for 12 weeks killing it.

$2700ish. A few holes on the preload adjustment nut are buldged so I plan on sendind them to DSM to get changed. They dont have more than 3k miles on them.

I'm a half watt technically (low voltage). My license doesn't permit me to do too much, but 12v systems do fall under my license...

That sounds a lot safer :) The electricians I work with have told me plenty of stories of crazy crap they have encountered. Go into panels to find them backfed, tagged out but still have 440 going to them, cabinets filled with paper and other crap. Makes me glad Im a mechanical guy.

Thanks for the correction Brady. I know you're always there to help me like that

While I may be a low volt, I know enough on how to deal with higher volt stuff too. A lot of times, I am tying in low volt controls to high volt equipment. I've played with 24, 120, 208, 240, 277, 480 volt systems. I may or may not have helped Will add an outlet for a welding in his garage, as well as replacing/relocating a breaker panel for friends. I don't do anything more than basic power or grounding in automotive though.

I would just like to go on the record saying that you're going to regret this decision.

Selling because you don't like how they ride, I imagine?

Yeah I added a 220 for my welder and then ran two additional 220 lines for two electric heaters. Basic stuff like that I can do, I still dont like it though.

I did ruin a 220v 20amp light switch though. Was a bit confused on how to wire it and well....it wasnt right and went poof.

I kept telling my brother to become an electrician. Instead he has a desk job, salaried and work smore overtime than me (and he doesnt get paid for it)

Fuck salary. Hourly is the way to go. As soon as you go salary, you get loaded up with extra work that just has to get done, but doesn't fit into 40 hours.
On the 20A 240 switch, depending on what you are doing exactly, you might be breaking 120 with the switch, while the other leg to whatever is always on, or get a 2 pole switch (harder to find). It's all basic wiring, but it takes time to figure some of it out. When you don't know what you are doing, and you get to 3 way and 4 way switches, it can get confusing in a hurry. My biggest trick to dealing with electrical is to draw a picture. If I can draw a picture (wiring diagram really) of it, I can wire it up to make it work.

Agree on the salary! Or at least get comp time for it. Sadly for the brother he is in Walla Walla so werent a ton of jobs at the time.

Its actually a 30amp 240 switch now that i looked. It is a 2 pole. Was a bit expensive but not to bad (like 13 bucks I think). When switched off its dead on both legs at the heater. I forget exactly what I did but think i hooked the input line to both sides of the switch or something. Either way it went pop and was a bit black. Course soon as I did it i knew what I'd done.
