Agreed, I don't wrench anymore on a daily basis, but it was easy to hit up a Sears on the weekend and grab something if you couldn't get to a truck or call my Snap-on guy.
Since there were some pics of boxes n' tools, here's my overstuffed box of sockets and ratchets. Now I need to order that hose!

Working in the industry for a long time I can agree on a lot of this. You'd be surprised how many people never crack open that owners manual or have someone explain how certain feature work. It's rediculous that I need to teach people how THEIR car operates several times a month minimum. It's like that with every manufacturer and every model. I couldn't possibly agree more. So...

That being said Toyota's customer service is severely lacking. Telling people that their vibrating truck that shakes the brake pedal when stopping and sounds like your driving over rumble strips at speeds below 25 mph is complete bullshit. Far too many people are being told stuff is normal that any bone head mechanic or not knows is a fallacy. Toyota would be better off admitting issues and stating expected fix release dates or letting people know they are addressing it as fast as possible. I think people would be more forgiving to honesty rather than being told to pound salt. In a market where manufacturers are bending over to gain new customers Toyota needs to do better. Today's industry is a customer service driven industry more so than ever before due to people researching and using the internet as a tool and being more savvy in general as to what they expect. I found nothing more infuriating then being told something was normal or " characteristics " of the vehicle when it was an obvious problem. I EXPECTED the truck to have a few issues being a new model but what I didn't expect was the piss poor customer service that entailed.

Nicely organized. Only pic of my box and garage I have, still working on my collection (raised by a single mom).

Thanks, not as organized as some, but I started small and the box only has tools in it and crammed full of steel. Other guys I used to wrench with had giant $15k boxes, but half of it was a locker room and car parts.

Thanks! Nice drums, jealous of your musical talent. I tried to play guitar once, chicks dig musicians, epic fail.

Sounds like a personal problem. (sorry I just had to)

That's a nice setup you've got though. Right now my tool situation is a total disaster area, I had my tools mixed in with my dad's tools, plus my grandpa's tools that I inherited from him. My dad is the type to have everything on an organizer, my grandpa was the "folgers can of shit" style guy, I'm halfway in between. Plus I'm moving very soon so I need to take stock of what I need, for instance I've just always borrowed my dad's breaker bar and torque wrench.

Tekton actually makes some pretty neat stuff, reasonably cheap, COO Taiwan, gets good reviews but just isn't as "full featured" as something like snap-on.

Yeah I have to agree. My license plate light keeps filling up with water and while no one is arguing it's a characteristic, the solutions offered thus far have been lazy. Clearly replacing the housing 3 times hasn't fixed it, so why keep doing it? Fortunately for me that's a minor annoyance while I save up for a plate bumper. I think I've been spared a lot of the growing pains as my truck is more of a gen 2.5, it's a 4x2 with the 4 cylinder. Different 6AT actually, heck it even came with 4.3 gears from the factory.

Stuff like the hood vibration shouldn't be so wildly inconsistent in its fixes either, they tracked down the failure, they know the batch of adhesive caused it, but no TSB and no standard procedure.
Hell I bet if Toyota said "sorry about the hood vibes, we'll offer you a scooped hood at a discount if you're affected!" the response would be near-orgasmic and they'd be making a profit off a fuck-up!

I had to word it "properly" for the keen eyed, twisted minds like yourself! :D

Tekton? I've picked up a few of their items through Amazon and even HF has some specialty stuff I like. I still won't break certain fasteners loose with a certain tool from these other brands, but they do offer some very low profile options that will work better than the "beefier" well known top tier brands in certain tight situations.
I'll post a pic of one specific ratchet I'm talking about in a bit.

This is a Taiwan COO Harbor Freight Pitrsburgh ratchet that I use more than any other ratchet I own now. Best leverage and fit into tight areas of some engines and suspension. The 1/4" drive side is a little gimmicky, but it works in a pinch. The handle is too long for The leverage that can be applied for that size drive head and fastener if not careful.
