The easiest way to build an ar is to buy a complete lower and a complete upper. Assembling it is as easy as pushing two pins. Then you just need a magazine and a sight.

That's not really building one though... I mean I keep my ARs in pieces (multiple uppers for one lower) so that means I build it every time? Lol :p

Yeah I should have used the word "assemble" for these types of builds.

Forgive the probably dumb question for one who isn't a rifle expert: Looking at the notches by the rear sight there, am I able to mount a scope/sight to that? Not sure where everything would mount on these or what kind of accessories I could add at a later date.

It's adult legos. You can mount everything on an AR, if you desire. LOL. The one on the top by the rear sight is a rail. This is the issued AR of my department, very good gun.

Go watch lots of YouTube videos, great training tools for you beginners, but you do have to use your brains and commonsense at the same time

buying owning and shooting firearms is a lot of fun

but I think my favorite part might arguably be when I really get the hots for my "the next one" and go nuts reading anything and everything I dig up pre purchasing. and I must emphasize truly having "the hots" for something as really "in love" with it. I like many most guns, but only really love a big chunk of them.

youtube google and online forums, between these three and some good time spent reading and fact checking... the info is there, just gotta look at it.

I'm the same way! I turn 21 in a few months and already have money reserved and a list of handguns I'm going to buy. A ruger sr1911, fns 9 compact, and smith and Wesson mp22 compact.

So decisions, decisions, pretty much set on the RA/faxon 8.5 300blk CL 5R barrel, but need a suggestion on these two: Either: https://www.rainierarms.com/sharps-rifle-co-xpb-xtreme-performance-bcg-ar15

    or

    http://www.primaryarms.com/Kit-FZBC...tm_campaign=Failzero_BCG_With_Anderson_Barrel

Leaning more towards the Sharps, fantastic quality and unbelievable strength because the FailZero I have heard and seen they use Taiwanese gas key screws even though they state everywhere that it's "100% made in the USA", though that "free" barrel is appealing even though its 1/8... Not saying Taiwanese parts are crap but if a company is willing to lie to you, they must have cut corners elsewhere too.

Unless if your building this rifle to save your life or your fellow mans, I wouldn't sweat either one too much, they will both do the job quite well. it sounds like you're would be splitting hairs at this point .

Not a dumb question. Most AR scope mounts are high. Here is one of mine. It clears by about an 8th of an inch, plenty of room.

It's going to be a personal SBR that sees some duty training but nothing to out of the ordinary. I think i'm just gonna go with the sharps for peace of mind on my end.

A standard $90 BCG would work just as well. The only real advantage to either of those you posted are easier cleaning.

Almost cut the tree in half from 15 yards, not bad for the first time shooting this shield. I love the trigger more than my dad's glock 17 gen 1
