2006 tacoma's transmission

anyone notice that its mostly the 2006 tacoma who have the transmission going out on them? Funny I noticed this because I have an 06. Im thinking of trading it in an getting an 07/08. Tacoma really let me down man. 1st tacoma i have ever owned and im so bummed out with how it drives. Mainly the way it shifts and the transmission lag everyone is talking about. People say, " This is how they are... Just get used to them... blah blah blah" Truth is that if youre gonna spend 30k on something it better work right. Just really disapointed with toyotas. I dont think im purchaing another one. Just my 2 cents.

No I wanna stick with Toyotas im just saying, 06 taco's are showing alot of issues with the tranny.

 

I am still not clear what is that lag on tranny everybody talking about. My pickup shifts the same as my LC and there is 12 years of difference between them but both have low 1st for offroad/towing. I mean last thing I want is to have high 1st to skipp rocks like a MOFO.

 

Approaching 60k miles and no problems so far. BTW didn't your problems start after you (not dealer) serviced the transmission ?

 

I couldn't tell you about the 06s, but my 08 has almost 60,000 miles and I have no issues.

 

I only have 34,000 on my 06, but I haven't had any problems either.

 

I got an 06' with 32K. No issues, knock on wood.

No here the deal. My truck kept jurking when I came to a stop. I read on tw that if you service the tranny the symptom tend to go away. So I had the Toyota dealer ship service. They did a full flush. Jerking is gone but now it shifts hard and still has the lagging deal. I know some do it and others dont. The reason why is what im trying to figure out. Its not the truck itself im frustrated with, its the dealers responses, "its normal, that's how they are get used to it." Seems like BS to me, If they dont know how to fix it just say so and I will keep searching you know.

 

Im staying with tacomas... i was just frustraded is all. Love how these trucks trucks look, and i hear most run great. I guess i just got a lemon is all. FML

 

What's the difference between a low first and high first? and how do i know if my tuck has it. Sorry i dont know much about trucks and like i said its my first one.

 

Me either. I have a 2005 and even went out one evening trying to replicate the problem and can't get mine to do it. Even if it IS doing what everyone else is complaining about, I didn't notice anything different than the other vehicles I drive?

 

I have an 06 w/ auto trans, have 62k, tow/haul heavy loads alot and am pretty hard on it... not a single issue!

 

06 here 60,000 kms no issues so far!

'06 with 60K shifts like a dream, had it serviced at 59K at dealership and the tech said it needed it bad, real bad, and the cost was fair at $100 and change.

 

think your tacos tranny is bad? go try out the Ranger...lmao!
