It's possible to mount it where you can reach the coax lug from underneath I imagine. You might have to lay on your back and work at some weird ass angle, but you won't need to tear everything up if you use a little fore-thought.

True but how long is the wire from the unit to the adaper? Maybe i could run it near passenger floor and still have the wire reach dash/ center button.

Super short like 6 inches or less. Cobra sells an extension I believe.

Really? Where is yours mounted? Does it hit a lot of obstacles between uses?

Hood mounted using a ditch light bracket. My old home had a short garage for. It hit the header and door on the way in and out.

No problem in new home. But the tip of the Firestik is messed up. I need to just get a fixed antenna and have it tuned. Tunable tip is PIA.

Oh ok, im going to use the relentless hood mount and a 3' firestik. Now that you dont hit it every day on the garage, is the reception and SWR ok?

The part of the 75 that you would hid is pretty small. It would hold securely with heavy velcro and easily pop out when you need to tune.

Couldn't say. Never user the CB. I don't get out enough! PIA to tune it though.

Well, if y'all want a talking radio, get a Galaxie 88 10 meter converted to CB, have it peaked and tweaked, run it through 18 ft. of high quality cable, and run a 102" stainless steel whip. You will be able to talk to god.
Sans that, all radios are pretty much equal, its just the bells and whistles that come on them that you won't use anyway. The SWR meters that come in the radios are junk and not very accurate. And Firestick antennas were the shit in the 80s, a Wilson would be better.
If you want to run dual antennas you want them 9' apart or else they will do weird shit with your signal.

I can do that from my knees thank you very much.:D Don't need no stinking radio.

But I imagine a 102" whip gives some good send/receive!!

I have a question for you CB pros out there. Is it possible to have a SWR of 2.0 on channels 1 and 40 but then a 1.0 SWR on channel 19? These are the readings im getting but i thought that all channels would have the same SWR once 1 and 40 were the same. I am fine with this since I plan on using 19 most of the time, but just wanted to make sure the readings im getting are actually possible and there's not an issue with my meter. Thanks

I think it's right from what I've been reading. But does 19 work? Can u rx and tx? But u should try ur best and get it below 2.0.

Yea I can hear people on 19 and everyone I've talked to said I was coming in loud and clear. I know 2.0 is not desirable but I don't know how I can get it lower without getting a longer antenna. Since i got channel 1 and 40 at the same SWR I don't know how I can make it any better through tuning

What size antenna? Where is the antenna located? What type? Mag mount? Stud mount? U have a good ground?

It is. There may be an issue with the antenna ground, that would be the most likely culprit. If you are going to spend your time on Ch 19 then I personally wouldn't care.

3' firestik firefly, firering stud, relentless fab hood mount, passenger side. Ground should be good, there's no paint or anything on the mount were the fire ring makes contact

yea that's what I'm thinking but I would still like to have the best tuning I can with the setup I got. Ground should be good

Try to take a ground wire from antenna to the battery and just see if it lowers it. Also may have no paint on the antenna mount. But where the mount bolts to truck there shouldn't be ANY PAINT! Juse take ground from antenna stud to battery to elimate!!
