Thanks. I'm just using the time that's available to me. Leaving Concord today for the White Mountains. Gonna try to bare the storm till Wednesday or so than make my way back to NJ.

Got a list of primitive campsites, going to just float around the White Mountains. Hopefully the forestry roads are not gated for the winter. I saw a few sites on my list are May - October or till first snow fall.

Couple winters ago I was on the Kancamagus Highway and part of it was closed, didn't search much for sites. First site is near North Conway, than headed up near Mt. Washington

It's got a 4x4 section too, even a rock crawling course

Looks like you may be in the 12 to 18" range for snow fall according to the map a few posts up. We're supposed to have winds 30-40mph around here, keep an eye on this one. Might be a good for a one night stay in a hotel kind of storm. :notsure:

Hah yea I saw that. I got a lot of gear with me to cope with the weather conditions. Like snow chains and a heater. Sort of looking forward to the experience as a challenge. If I feel in danger I could return to my sisters house in Concord.

Toughest part right now is trying to keep my supplied water freezing

Are you by yourself, or is your wife with you? Either way will be quite the challenge, stay safe out there! As for the water if you can keep it in the cab, wrap them in a blanket. Last I saw the temp was only supposed to be in the mid 30's but the windchill factor will definitely make it feel colder outside.

Well, I think it's about time something like this opened up near by. Not necessarily into the rock crawling (yet), i hope it has some decent trails to ride!

Lurking for a while here, mostly reading and trying to answer my own questions. I recently signed up for the Northeast Overland Fall Foliage Tour in October, which is a very light overland tour through western Maine. I wanted to check in with this group and see if anyone else has either previously gone before or signed up for this fall's tour?

I thought this would be a nice easy introduction into some light offroading with a large group of wily veterans to help a rookie should I get stuck. I'm still all stock as my truck is my daily driver as well as my Home Depot hauler :) Working on getting the required recovery gear as well as rounding out my camping gear.
