Played in the sand a little bit at Assateague today and the traction control light came on with a warning: "Check stability system". I thought it would go away after I inflated to proper psi and drove on the road a bit but it hasn't.

I drove the truck another 30 miles on pavement, didn't notice any handling issues. The warning light persists even after turning off the ignition. Any thoughts on how to fix it aside from a visit to the dealer? I won't have time to take it to the dealer before the impending snow Monday night.

Why are these 3rd gens so sensitive to beaches?

No idea. I did the same thing last year and didn't have any issues. Maybe I pushed my street queen Limited a little too hard! :D Nice Hilux btw.

When you say traction control light, do you mean the "Slip Indicator" or "TRAC Off" light?
    Just lights, no buzzer?
    How much time has passed?

Looks like the slip indicator light:IMG_0416.jpg

No other lights or vibrations or abnormal sounds that I can detect. It's been at least 5 hours since the light first came on and the taking of the photo above.

Just got it back from the dealer. Issue was code c1290: abnormal zero point in steering position. It looks like they just had to recalibrate the steering sensor. Searching the code brings up results from other Toyota forums on how to recalibrate it yourself if so inclined. Glad to have her back all healthy! Thanks all for the suggestions.
