I believe I have my 12' sold so I was looking around at 1st and a couple 2nd gen Tacomas , found some but they all have 150K or more . I was curious just how high is to high ? I know this is more of a people's opinion question but I'd like to know what people think . I know of a nice one with 200K but I believe that's a but much . Thanks everyone.

We bought our '09 DCSB in October of 2016 with 135k miles--just one prior owner who bought it from the same dealer (who also serviced it) and traded it on a new Tundra. The dealer performed all outstanding recalls and TSBs, and put new tires on it--it looks and runs like new.

Based upon our experience of 25+ years with five other Toyotas (my wife's '03 Highlander just tuned over to 224k) I expect to be driving it for at least another 150k miles...

My dad was always buying used cars when I was a kid, that's how we got by. I asked him the other night "what mileage would you bail out of your typical car back in the day?" He said when it reached about 50k miles. This is from the late 1970's to early 1990's era of cars.

Nowadays, cars are way more reliable. I just bailed out of my Ford Ranger at 147k miles. My wifes Volvo is at 200k right now and going strong. I would buy her car as is in a heartbeat, the Ford not so much.

I think if you get a used Toyota at 100k miles or less your doing good. These trucks seem to hit the $300k mark regularly. I wouldn't buy a Ford at 100k miles though based on my experience and other posts that I've read on Fords.

The problem is finding a used Tacoma that's significantly cheaper than a brand spankin' new one.

Depends on the history. How many owners, service history and vehicle condition would be more important to me than miles.

I bought my 05 with 119k, 1 owner, all service records since new and in excellent condition. I don't worry about the reliability of it. It just goes like it should and I continue to service it like it should be.

I got my 06 with 165K on it back in October.

Just drove it 700+ miles to Disneyland and back fromy Phoenix. It rolled over 170,000 on the way back today.

100k is just breaking in a Tacoma..... I wouldn't hesitate buying a good condition Tacoma with 150k miles.

OP is from Ohio. Frame rust - really freaking awful frame rust. And the class action settlement that would cover him excludes anyone buying the vehicle after Dec 2016. So he will be screwed if the truck in question hasn't already had a frame replacement.

So don't look at miles OP, look at the frame. Or more importantly find out if it has been replaced. If it hasn't personally I wouldn't buy the vehicle at all no matter how good the deal. And if you are going to gamble remember it rusts from the inside out so have it inspected.

High mileage isn't so much of a concern as how good it's been kept and maintained. Pay close attention to the frame. My '05 has 253,000 miles on it and it's far from what one would consider a junker - it's still my reliable daily driver with many more miles left in it.

Depends on how well it's maintained, the selling price and how long you intend on keeping it. I wouldn't have a problem buying a Tacoma with a lot of miles assuming it was well taken care of and not dogged.

2008 bought August '15 with 255k, currently has 270k, and has been rock solid. Front hub bearings and brakes are the only thing I've HAD to do.

Trans had its first service at 262k, clean as a whistle and really didn't "need" it.

I've driven truck from Raleigh to Chicago 3 times in the time I've had it, hauled camper to the Outer Banks of NC, not an issue.

It was a fleet service truck in its former life. Pretty it's not, mechanically sound, it is.

My 2015 has 127,000 miles on it and runs like it did when I brought it home from the dealer. I've done all the maintenance myself religiously, mostly all of it I learned on here. I plan on getting at least 300,000 out of this truck. This is by far the best all around truck I've ever owned (have had five Dodges and two Fords).

As others have said, if it's been serviced regularly and the frame is good, the sky is the limit when it comes to longevity of these trucks.

I just bought my 2010 Tacoma double cab with 187k on it. It was a one owner and looks and runs better than a lot of newer trucks I know. I paid 12k for it and changed alll fluids/filters and put new tires on it. I fully expect it to last til well over the 300k mark.

Almost the same situation here. 09 DCSB, one owner, same dealer purchase and trade in, 115k miles, runs like a top!

i am in the same boat. I am looking at a 2013 with 94K miles, its a TRD sport DCSB and i can get it for $19.500...its a 2 owner, always owned local here in TN, really clean truck. I want to pull the trigger just worried i am over paying for the miles, but then again compared to everything else i see this seems to be a great deal.
