I will post a few later when I get my kiddo settled in bed. It was indeed a nasty mess. Just ordered sliders btw.

Now I gotta try to work out the skid situation for Jambo, might not happen but we'll see.

I think Chris and Juan inspired me. I'm gonna probably get some Cooper ST maxx tires in 265 / 70 / r17 for the Runner. Those Cooper tires look hard to beat.

Nice! Are you wanting skids on the runner or Tacoma for jambo? Also you won't be disappointed with the tires.

Tires ordered. I went with Falken Wildpeaks E Range 265/70/r17, that's a 32" tire and I know I can run it 100% without a lift, and they are quiet on the road and are more agressive than I had.

I wanted the Coopers but these were about $250 less for a set of 4. I'm going to keep my spare, since it's only a 1" larger tire in diameter I'm putting on.

I paid $620 to my door with the discount tire direct promotion going on.

If I don't love these, I'll stick em on my Tacoma and get something else for the 4Runner.

So I bought Sliders and Tires tonight, I'm done f$9K1ng around. Gonna finish armoring this beast up ASAP.

4Runner is the focus of my armoring before Jambo if it can happen.

Have to bring it by one weekend and we can get some measurements. There's a chance the Tacoma skid might fit

When we went, I thought it would be cool to slow down, shift down and floor it for 1/2 of the tunnel.........I forgot that I had bald KM2's and it was raining.
    :anonymous:

    Would do it again, though.

I'm glad I missed out on the bottom pic. What trail was that? The beginning of Power Wagon Hill?

Actually I just bought some skids too, all but 1, the gas tank one.

My goal for this vehicle is moderate protection for exploring and road trips, so weight is a big factor.

Cost is a concern, so I shopped the specials going on.

I went with a 31.7" wheel at factory size + 1 to keep MPG decent, no lift needed, and maintain good highway ride. I had looked heavily at the BFG KO2s, Falken Wildpeaks and Cooper ST Maxxes for the last couple months. I really wanted the Coopers, but I didn't need 255 / 80 / r17 since I wasn't lifting, and Wildpeaks were well reviewed for highway ride while keeping price and weight down. $620 to my door. ($48 tax, free shipping)

The sliders were because of sliders. I chose to not include the fill plates to keep weight down there. I went with All Pro bolt ons. These are a clone of the BudBuilt's basically. $499 to my door (no tax, free shipping this week)

I ended up buying some skids too, the ARB ones for the FJ / 4Runner / Prado's. They aren't but 1/8", so like BudBuilt's skidplates "Lite," but once again keeping weight down while getting something better than stock and searching for deals. You'll probably groan, but I bought the ARB skids from Pelfreybilt, because for 3 pieces, front, mid, and transfer case, they were $435 (no tax, free shipping until 3/15). These aren't a beefy as most skids, but much better than stock.

That just leaves me with a gas tank skid I'm really needing to figure out. It's the lowest hanging thing on the truck, which is just dumb. That one I'll probably get Chris to help me measure out. Plus, with the other skids as a template, I will probably get Chris to take some measurements and build a heavy duty set for me eventually out of 3/16" for when I get a 2" lift and decide to wheel this thing harder.

In truth I want to mainly do what we did this weekend, and I'm perfectly content to ride along in other's rigs or meet them at the top for some photo opportunities (I enjoy taking photos more than wheeling, and I like meeting people and camping...and eating).
