So It was in the 20's yesterday and I did not want to do my oil change. I went down to wal mart and had them do an oil change and tire rotation. Well the left oils rags in my truck spilled oil in the engine bag, spilled dif fluid all over my pumpkin and ruined the sidewall of my KO2 they gouged the sidewall down to the wire. I complained this morning when I saw the damage and luckily they are going to replace the tire. I only have about 7000 miles on them so that made me feel better. Now is 7000 miles in going to mess up doing a 5 tire rotation? Also I think I'm going to see if they will let me keep this one so I have two KO2 spares for my 4x4 trips.

Get what you pay for.... honestly, no one to blame but yourself choosing Walmart to work on your truck.

If you're that OCD about getting scratches on your tire's sidewall, you'd probably be better off choosing a more reputable place to touch your "pumpkin."

To me, the tires themselves are wear items, and like every wear item, are meant to get worn down or damaged. I don't think you'll have a problem with rubber wear with a new tire thrown in your rotation.

No they ruined the side wall they gouged the tire and chunks of rubber are now missing from the sidewall. I just noticed the picture wasn't the right one they damaged it down to the wire on the side wall.

i am confused on the tire damage, they wouldn't touch the tire when just doing a rotation. did you have them dismount the tires too?

I had my spare rotated in. I'm ordering new wheels soon so that won't be an issue in the future so all 5 will be the same.

OP says they spilled diff lube on the rear differential (commonly referred to as pumpkin) probably while checking it to try and upsell a diff lube change. Walmart is definitely in the league of the quick lube joints where their workers are under trained with high turnover. So yeah, they suck. But when you ask for a rotation and end up with gashes in your sidewall well that's not ok or a normal wear issue. At least it sounds like they are making it right by replacing the tire.

Wallyworld. Really? DIY or find decent place. My experience with BFG- fantastic tire. Go to Discount Tire and have them prorate a replacement. They did this on a used KM2 that separated.

It is unreal that a guy can't bring his truck to a place and have to worry about a simple oil change and tire rotation. The op should expect that a job like that can be done by a "service center". Thats why like most guys on this forum I do all my own work............

Why the fuck would you want to use it as a spare if it was bad enough to demand they give you a new one? Shister

OP has shown significant prowess with a wrench in past posts. It was cold and she didn't feel like doing the work out in the cold. I've been known to do the same.

At least the expensive issue is being resolved. Keep it as a spare if they let you - the tire should have lots of life left, but I agree they should replace it. The "tech" obviously took your truck "wheeling" in the back parking lot. Never use them for work again.

Walmart sells most big name tires. When they price matched I would look all over for the cheapest online price (usually companies that stick you with crazy shipping at checkout) and then go to my local Walmart and have them price match with free site to store shipping. Worked like a charm, load them up and go to my local mom and pop tire shop for a mount and balance.:D
