I wish I could form a conclusion based on this post haha!!
Any ideas of how I could diagnose this issue!?

I had a similar issue, had to replace the Main Body ECU. When the foreman showed me the old module, the dome light circuit actually got so hot that it popped out of the board.

3 hours of Diag time plus the part? 670. Not a small bill.

    UPDATE:
Went to another dealer (not the one I bought the truck from, but one closer to home actually) and they had a deeper look. They determined that it was a problem with the entire console and replaced the whole assembly. Part was ordered last week and went in for service today.

    FIXED. AND UNDER WARRANTY.

I never went further than having one LED in the dome light. As soon as this happened back in November, the stock bulb went right back in.

I just found this thread, which Interior LEDs did u Use? Good quality LEDs have over current, over voltage and polarity free design with resistors built-in.

Good afternoon - new 2017 TRD OR here and really like the LED light upgrades but this thread has me thinking twice.

It seems that the TacomaWorld is split on LEDs in the 3rd gens due to the issues outlined in this thread.

Are most of these problems due to the LED architecture as =JSG= has posted with the Yorkim graphic?

Does the group here overall agree that higher-end LED bulbs are called for to prevent issues or are folks seeing the same burned-out circuits and fuses with Philips, Yorkim, etc.?

Thanks again to the TacomaWorld folks for any feedback you can offer....

Had same issue with mine. One led was blown. Fried the conection wire and in turn fused the center console overhead light switch. The switch is $193.00 through toyota for the 3 pos on-door-off switch. Does anyone know where else i can find this switch.

This console is sealed from factory so any work on it can void warrantee. This is probably why the entire console is being replaced.

Guess I won't be installing the LEDs I got. Don't want the trouble.

This just happened to my 2018 and now that i have been reading i am guessing i will be in need of an entire new overhead unit. My fuse blew just like the original OP and now my light remains on even after the door is closed

shouldn't the sellers of these LEDs have any legal culpability since their product is causing damage to a $40k plus trucks electrical system?

NO, you are doing modifications to your vehicle and your not being forced to do so. I messed up and realise it, now its time to fix it

Are people changing the bulbs with the power to the lights on? Also LED lights need to have the correct polarity, if in doubt use a multimeter.
