Rockauto is pretty much the best online source for general parts. Much better customer service than some of the other sites like partsgeek

You have to watch with Rock Auto He buys close outs New old stock inventory of failed Auto Parts stores etc

Parts get shipped from all over the country

You need to look at shipping costs real close .

Like any place else know what your buying watch the names you never heard of .

I check Rock Auto and Check Amazon which ever has the best price to the door for the same part I go with

As of Late Amazon is by far cheaper. 2 years ago it was Rock Auto

Thanks for the input guy's. Since the place I used to get parts closed, it's a toss up as to where to go for parts.

Be careful out there tonight and tomorrow if you have to drive:). Too many gerbroni's(sp) that can't drive in the snow that will be out on the roads.

Sounds like rock auto could be just like everyone else, hit or mis. Even dealing with part suppliers that only sell to repair shops are not 100% reliable with getting the correct, defect free parts. If there is an option to buy an economy part verses a quality priced part, I go with top shelf price and usually don't have a problem.

Remember back in the day when mostly everyone had a set of SNOW TIRES for there cars and could actually drive in the snow. I'm only talking about 35 years ago too. When I was a kid working in a gas station thats all I would do most of the day when the month of October rolled around, Mount SNOW TIRES. The best was when the customer had them already mounted on a spare set of steel wheels. And dont get me started on STUDDED SNOW TIRES. WWWWHHHAAATTTT!!!!

Remember those days well :D. Also remember getting stuck putting studs in the snow tires  what a boring job. There were less 4 or AWD vehicles on the road but it seemed like there were less accidents(probably because there were less cars on the road:confused:) then there are today.

I ran winter tires on my cars, at all 4 corners, up until just a couple of years ago. Kept an extra set of rims/tires for both cars, swapped them out at Thanksgiving and Tax Day. Wife was a nurse and "had to be there", I worked in a 24*7*365 on-site role and "had to be there" too. She had a Jeep, I had a Subie. we kept an overnight bag in the cars, plus blankets etc. in case we got stuck out on the road somewhere. I can tell stories about those days and about winter tires. One thing I'm sure of is that modern winter tires are massively better than those "snow" tires we used to just put on one axle.

 Back in my younger years, I worked at a gas station part time at night and hated when it snowed because we also ran road calls and were on call with the police for accidents etc.. Had to put the chains on the tow trucks and that was a royal pain. Had one woman called for road service and by the time I got to her house, it was after 10PM, her battery was dead and the electrolyte(actually I don't think there was any left) was actually frozen solid. I did manage to get the car started but told her she needed a battery to which she told me "she didn't need the car until the morning for work and just wanted to make sure it would start in the morning":boink::boom:
