I am running 275/70/18 4.5 backspacing and I have the same rubbing on control arms issue. Would backing off on the caster some help this?

I'm only rubbing at full turn and just on the flat spot were its welded to the tubing, rubber right on that sharp edge, really didn't want to run spacers.

Just wanted to comment on the Customer Service so far. UCAs ordered and shipped on Friday, they arrived today. I'm only about a 4 hour drive from his shop FWIW.

I've received around 7 emails separate from invoice or shipping confirmations in that time as well. Marlin seems to be very big in Customer Service and that's extremely reassuring. I've read through most of this thread and felt confident in the current product, but it's awesome to see a small company keep in good contact with its customers. Yes, the emails are automated, but they contained good information.

Can wait to get my 887s to get these mounted.

I'm piece mealing my lift together, so far I have my SCS SR8 wheels which are 17x8.5, 4.30" backspace and -10mm offset and my JBA UCA's came in on Saturday. I was reading through this thread and saw some rubbing issues on the UCA's unless you have 4.5BS or more which with these wheels at 4.30" it looks like I'll have issues is that correct? I haven't decided on my front lift, I'm thinking Toytec Boss or something along those lines hoping for 2.5-3" up front. Rear will be OME Dakar full leaf kit. If rubbing will be a problem is there a kit I could go with in the front to prevent this or should I sell my wheels and get ones with more backspacing. Also, I haven't really settled on a tire size either so maybe I could keep these wheels and have tires that would be more compatible if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks fellas. Oh and the pic above just reminded me, what is the tape over the holes for on the UCA's?

You might be ok with 4.3" BS. mine rub but my wheels have 3.5" BS. Your wheels put you another 0.8" away from the UCA than mine. It really depends on your tires.

I'm at 4.5 backspace275/70/18 and I'm about 1 in front the uca with the wheels straight. Only rubbing a little on the front of the arm when at full lock so 4.3 backspace should be fine, it's almost a quarter inch farther from the uca.

Right? Backspacing is measured from inside mating surface to inside edge of rim some 4.5 is closer than 4.3.

All other things being equal, 4.3" BS is closer to the suspension than 4.5" BS.

The smaller the number, the further the wheel is AWAY from the suspension. That's how I've always understood it. A wheel with 4.5" BS will be tucked deeper into the wheel well than a wheel with 3.5" BS

I think I transposed some numbers there.
    :pccoffee::pccoffee::pccoffee:

Thanks for the correction, I was misinformed about the backspacing of the stock TRD sport wheels I have and I was basing my numbers off of that.

Oh so 4.3 is better to have than 4.5? I thought it was the other way around too. Cool!! Alright y'all now help me decide lift and tires ;-) I was thinking about 255/80/17, 285's might be pushing it. Should I pull the trigger on toytec boss? OME, Billy? Would like to be 2.75-3"
    Thanks again!

Kinda need to know what you're driving. On my 2016 Tacoma SBDC I ran a 3" lift on stock 16" dark gray SR wheels with a 285/75/16 and a 1.25" wheel spacer with no cutting and no rubbing. The ToyTec Boss or Ultimate kits are great. Ultimate kit is sitting here waiting to be installed under my 2016 4Runner. Headstrong also has some great kits.

I've heard of people running 285/70/17 and be ok and I've heard some people rubbing a little, like I said I'm on 275/70/18 4.5 bs and only just touch the uca at full lock, I have plenty of clearance from the cab mount and about 2 inches from the front when turned. Hope this helps give you some idea of what you are looking for.

I'm thinking of either running 1/4in spacer and longer wheel studs or new wheel and tire setup..... Not really sure yet.

All this talk about rubbing has me curious. Will I be ok with ext travel Kings up front at factory settings with the JBA UCAs on stock FJ Trail wheels and 265/75s?

It might just be my tire I'm running be cause it's just the edge of the tread block that touches the uca. If I had all terrains it might be ok
