I got the Trek XCaliber 8 in a 21 in frame in the Matte Red.

Does not come with Tubeless tires... so trying to decide if I want to go ahead and changed to tubeless on them.

That is what I am thinking, but bike shop says I have to get new tires and at $55 each and then pay to have it done....

I need to know some information from everyone.

    @Zac of all trades @thedrewsifer @Suprajim54 @Geremy

    1. Since I am cooking one night, I need to know any dietary restrictions and if someone does not like a vegetable or something. Trying to design a good meal for everyone and plan out what all I would need to get for everyone.

    2. Bathroom Situation, how are we doing this with the ladies and such. The lady wants to know.

    1. No dietary restrictions or food allergies for my group.
    2. When nature calls, I'll take a shovel and find a nice quiet spot. But, if we happen to pass something that remotely looks like a toilet/bathroom, I'll probably stop and use it.

Yeah, not sure what to say on that. I think most tires today will support tubeless. The Stan's tubless kit comes with rim tape to cover the spoke holes and new tubeless valves. All you need after that is a air compressor to set the bead. I have never had a problem. Which tires are they?

The stock tires that the XCaliber comes with. Bontrager XR2, 29x2.20" front, 29x2.00" rear according to Trek... and Bontrager Mustang Elite Tubeless Ready 28-hole rims?

Looks like the tires are tubeless ready. I would buy some stans and some tubeless valves and try it out. I bet it works.

I have and she has seen a few pics from out there. I think that she will like it when we get out there. It just been a while since she has camped.

Not very many trees out there...

Yeah you probably dont need new tires. It would probably help prevent the bead from losing its seal a little better but you should be fine.

I know that struggle. Rims and tires on my Giant wouldnt go tubeless. Went with BWW wheelset and a set of Geax Saguaros with a Bontrager tubeless kit. Now the only issue is my rear tire has a small leak that I cant find for the life of me. I think its leaking at the valve stem.

Good to know. Now to decide what to actually cook.

I looked up the tires it comes with and from some reviews, they kinda suck, so may see what happens. My rims are tubeless ready, just need to get it done then. So will go tubeless on them until I can't stand them then switch to new tires down the road.

Any suggestions on what I can cook for everyone one night?

I know we have Fajitas one night and Hamburgers another night?

I am pretty much open to anything, so I could do like steak kabobs on the camp fire with some sauteed veggies, or really anything as long as I can get the ingredients to camp.

Wife and i did steak sandwiches out there with some gravy last time and it was pretty easy to get the stuff out there and cook. Cook steak heat up/toast bread melt cheese and done.

There is also stew/soups. prep and freeze everything then toss in a pot and let it sit at camp.

We also did spaghetti one time - also pretty easy.
