What makes the TRD Sport "sporting"?

Supposedly my '17 Sport will arrive at the dealer this week. I ordered the Sport because I wanted the premium and tech package and didn't think the Off Road features were that important for my interests. My "off road" interests these days are Forest Service roads, driving on section "two-tracks" in North Dakota to hunt birds, and driving into farm fields to drop off or pick up decoys.

I can see a number of the Off Road features as having value for those who will be taking their trucks seriously off road. Makes perfect sense. But I don't see much on the Sport that makes it sporting, other than suspension and larger wheels (ignore the non-functional scoop).

So, is there anything else, besides the suspension and larger wheels that makes the Sport "sporting"?

Stiffer shocks, 17" wheels (meaning shorter tire sidewall) are what should in theory make it handle more "sporty" than the other trucks.

The Harsh, Stiff, Jarring ride, and of course the Scoop. You can also get Premium and Tech on the Off Road. Edit to add it has a front Air Dam/Spoiler.

    Like, so many.
Personally, I like the looks of the Sport better. I'm like TS, I'd never use some of the features of the OR.

Get Premium and Tech on an Offroad...you can buy a scooped hood alot easier than a rear locker, crawl control, and terrain modes (sarcasm there, I'm sure a retrofit would be more trouble than it's worth) in case you want them someday.

Agreed. There is also a Thread on here somewhere about people hating the ride on the Sport and spending money to fix it.

It's mostly the visual differences, the bigger wheels and stiffer suspension. As much as I love my sport, I always though it should come with a bit more since it costs around the same as the Off-Road.

Dual exhaust would have been nice.

I can't wait to throw some Kings on and 700lb springs so the ride would be more suitable for me. the stock OR stuff is way to underdampened and soft.

Its a trade off between a smoother ride or less body roll. I have the Sport and wanted the smoother ride. My friend has the same model truck as I do, but his is an Off Road. When he lifted his truck, he took the suspension off and I put it on my truck. I noticed the body roll right away, especially when going on to the circular freeway on/off ramps; couldn't take them as fast as I used too or make fast sharp turns (but I did like the smother ride). I ended up just taking the front Off Road suspension/shock off an putting the Sport suspension/shocks back on again. Since I drive with the bed empty the majority of the time, I left the Off Road shocks on the back which helped out on the stiff ride.

Yeah the sport is amazing when it comes to body roll, IMO.

Like someone said "Harsh, Stiff, Jarring" feeling is 95% subjective if not 100%.
I drive Mini Cooper S during the weekdays for commute to work and its suspension setup is Super Stiff. It feels like a mini torture chamber when roads get rough (typical in L.A. area). Compared to that, my Taco Sport rides like a Caddy!

Tiptronic transmission!! Move stick to S and you are in semi-stick shift mode

    wut?

S-mode only allows you to specify the highest gear (and even then, it will still go above that after a certain RPM/speed)

I was happily surprised, when you move it to S it automatically goes into 4th gear, from there you go up and down just like a tiptronic right?
