There should be no steel "bits" any iron casting, from scrap or not. Grey iron melts at 2100° to 2200° F, steel at 2600° to 2800° F. To fully integrate scrap steel into the casting material it would have to be heated to 3100° F or more--and you'd end up with some really useless crap that would not cast well at all.

The filler coating is common with well finished sand castings, oddly it's usually only higher end makers that take the time to do it. I have worked with many $200k to $1m+ machine tools and production machines with castings finished in that manner--this is not to say that the poor slob being paid 2 fish heads and a bowl of rice a day to finish and assemble the HF vise didn't say "screw it" and cover up the mess...

It is item #67979. I wish it had a remotely moveable head, but it works. I've used it for working on my car, wiring in security systems with cameras, and a bunch of other stuff.

Got the utility trailer put together, mostly.

I'm not gonna waste my time putting it together so it can be stored upright. That just weakens it.

I Magivered it with some cross bars for kayaks or bike racks just to increase curb appeal.

I only bought this thing because I was curious of what you get for $250. As a fabricator of many, many trailers, this deal is impossible to beat for a light duty utility trailer.

I spent another $100 for lumber and paint.

I'm gonna park it at the road with a for sale sign. Curious what kind of low ball offers I get.

These are absolute junk. They do not last very long but worse than that they leak crap all over the inside of whatever you put them in. I got some for free late last Fall and had thrown the 18 to 20 remaining away by T-Day...

I've always worried about that, too. Good to know they have a potential to leak.

Actually been thinking of picking up the "heavy duty" one. Whats your overall impression on it? Be mostly just for brush runs and lumber runs for me.

Heavy duty incase i want to pick up landscaping stuff/concrete

    I'm pretty impressed.

I've built 100's of utility trailers over the last 25 years. I can't touch this price.

For me to build the same trailer, it would cost near $900 and i would have to sell it for $1200+ to make it worth my time.

This is a great dump run/landscape supply trailer.

With that said, any thing lighter than an ATV, this trailer will work pretty good.

Good to hear. I hear you on cost. I figure for once Im all loaded up with wood and stuff itll still have ~1500lb's to the max. But as mentioned it would mostly be for picking up plywood/wood. And for the fence project i'll be starting somewhat soon. Once i add all the features i'd like itll probably be closer to 600.

Make a wood box for it, tie down points, tongue jack, ect

How big does it come piece wise? Fit in back of the taco?

I haven't had a problem with them yet. I did have a Duracell leak all in my Skullcandy amplified headphones, that royally pissed me off. I am using them in my free HF flashlights and my Xbox controller (I put a new set in each time I use it).

Second that, I got them as well free and they last about 10% of the time that a regular name brand will last.

No problem buying some stuff from HF.

But batteries aren't one of them. Even if they're free.

I got those batteries once free with a coupon. Put them on a multimeter, only 6 were worth keeping. The others were over half drained out of the package.
