They told me people regularly pay 2k over MSRP there on the OR 4x4s and I took my business elsewhere and got mine at Toyota of Orange

Before I actually visited MB they also jacked me around with the costco pricing and were calling me with trucks in different colors and packages hoping I would bite

Maybe I talked to the wrong sales guy a couple of times lol

Listing an OTD price in this thread is kind of meaningless because tax, title, and licensing can vary so much from state to state, plus there may also be a trade on the deal. It's definitely more useful to list the MSRP and the negotiated price before TTL and trades are factored in.

Absolutely Jason, trade-ins, dealer spefs, labor day sales events, and tax and license fees are variable. Here in the State of WA tax and license tabs can vary as much as several percent predicated on what county you live in (we have 39 counties). I feel sorry for folks in Snohomish, King and Pierce County. Their license tabs just skyrocketed here the first of the year to pay for and extended rapid transit system (which would have cost next to nothing 25 years ago when the State of WA turned down a Federal grant to build it. Atlanta, Georgia took the grant and now we are paying the price. :()

I just started my dealer interaction in the Houston area to find what I'm looking for. I am the original owner of a silver 2008 TRD sport 4x2 DCSB w/160K miles to trade in. I'm looking for a 17 TRD Sport DCSB in magnetic gray, w/tech package and 4x4. I could settle for silver, but I really want to gray. I've been told by sales guys that the gray goes very fast. USAA is offering me 1.99% on the auto loan.
I deal with sales guys all day. I have no problem with walking away. My wife freaked out when I walked out of the dealership on her car deal, but the sales guys came running to me agreeing on my deal for her car.
There is a lot of great information on this post. I guess my main question is, should I wait for something to show up at the dealership or should I just order what I want? I'm in no rush. I love my current taco. I figured I would have more negotiating power if there was something sitting on the lot, especially at the end of a month. I've been telling sales guys to just let me know when what I want shows up, give me a call.

Had you ever thought about selling your old Tacoma yourself instead of trading it in? I had a 10 year old Taco, before I purchase my new one, and I put it on Craigslist for $3k more than what the dealership offer me for it. I had about 50 people wanting it and it sold in 2 days for more that what I was asking for (sold it to a person that offer me high blue book for it). But this was in CA where Tacomas, new or used, are in high demand.

I suggest, since your in no rush, is to order what you want so you get the exact Tacoma you want. Just do the email-all-the-dealership in your area approach and buy from the one who give you the best price.

I just got back from the dealer in Reno (Dolan Toyota) They offered me the 2017 TRD/OR 43,900 OTD. I have a 2014 TRD/OR 67K miles paid off and they offered me $25,600 trade in but I had to walk away. The truck is awesome but I paid $30,300 OTD in 2014, I don't see 13K in the new truck that i couldn't do to my old truck and not have a payment. Now I'm completely torn. Tacomaworld is killing me!

I have not stepped foot in the dealership yet. I'm kinda feeling whats out there. Engaging a sales person face to face seems to start a whole new level. I have thought about selling my taco myself, I did that with my previous vehicle. It is a nice feeling to take away all the leverage the dealership may have against you. I know what it's worth and I'm curious what the dealership would offer. Once I settle on a number, I won't give in. Even if the truck I want it sitting on the lot, I'm alright with walking away if they won't give me what I want on my trade in. I did that on my wife's car.

It's fair, some people have recorded getting otd prices for invoice where you got otd price at msrp.

You got an OR with not many options, harder for dealers to discount.
