I'm curious if anyone out there has painted their grille...and if so, how it turned out.
I'm not yet ready to spend alot on a new grille( I like the mesh ones ). The black grille in the Ink blue truck is very dark, though. I was wondering how it might look painted silver.
If anyone has gone this route, I'd like to see some pictures.

    Thanks.

GO SLOW. Clean and scuff before you try to paint. Scuff lightly or you'll leave grooves in the plastic. Wipe it down well with an alcohol wipe or something after you scuff.

If you use a rattle can spray light coats- Primer first if you have to cover that fake chrome. When you paint-Just enuf to see the spray on the grill and let it dry at least 25-30 mins (dry to the touch with all the spray solvents flashed out of the paint). Use many coats and think about using a clear coat for a few protective layers when you are done.

You can look for an automotive painting supply store and get better quality paint and you may even be able to get a paint can/nozzle that you can use without a compressor if you want to go that far.

You are slightly misunderstanding me. It's not chrome that I'm refering to.
I have the Sport that has the color matched frame around the front; That I like. It's the black insert with the Toyota emblem, along with the dark blue paint makes the truck look overly dark( IMO ). The only contrast is the headlights.
However, I agree with the advice given...scuffing with an abrasive and cleaning with a solvent prior to paint. I was thinking of possibly wheel paint that would look like aluminium or even slightly darker like a pewter color. And the clear coat is also a good idea.

Duplicolor makes some great colors- Or talk to a automotive place and get a real paint mix.
Sorry for the confusion- and good luck.

I'll be making a stop at a paint store next week or so- Just ordered a billet grill that'll be getting murdered out and I need paint for my rims and calipers too!!
