I got mine done a couple of weeks ago. Odd thing was that the Dealer in Somerset Ky. had several people on a list to get them done when the springs arrived, as they hadn't gotten any, but Toyota Knoxville told me several months ago that they had sets of them sitting in the shop, and no trucks on the list to install them on, and I could get mine any time I wanted! Odd that two dealers less then 150 miles apart should have such a difference in the availability of the replacement springs. Somerset gave me a set they were supposed to be holding for someone else, but that person had not responded to multiple contact attempts, so they gave them to me. Took about an hour and a half to do.

Aftermarket leaf pack. Dakaar, AllPro, Deaver, Alcan. They are all better than Toyota springs.

The old springs have 3 clamps holding the leafs in line. The new ones have 5.

Been over three months since I brought my truck into Keyes Toyota, and I just got called today to let me know that my recall TSB replacements springs are finally in. I had to call Toyota Corporate to get the TSB replacements approved in the first place and then call Toyota Corporate again 2 1/2 months later to make sure that the dealership actually ordered them. One week after calling corporate the second time, they suddenly arrive.

I drive a 2007 Reg cab 4cyl prerunner. Here's my experience with Loving Toyota of Lufkin, Texas. I called them on Thursday Feb 9, 2017 and inquired about my recall, talked with Jimmy, who said it would take 3-5 days to get my springs in and he would get them on. On Monday Feb 13, 2017, Jimmy calls me and says that my springs had arrived Saturday and he could get them put on. I schedule my appt for Thursday Feb 16, 2017, take half a day of vacation to make the appt. When I show up for the appt, they are really friendly and tell me it'll be about 2.5 hours. In exactly 2.5 hours Jimmy comes to tell me that they had taken my rear tires off, removed my rear shocks and dropped the axle to realize that they had order the springs for a different cab model.... the next week (on wednesday Feb 22, 2017) a co-worker who has the exact same truck as mine goes to Loving Toyota for his recall appt. He gets fed the exact same crap, word for word, from Gabe Mendez, the service manager. I had already to my coworker of the line e of crap so he called them on it. And then notified toyota corporate with a complaint on the dealership. The NEXT day (Feb 23, 2017) he had a set of springs installed. So I give it a few days for me to cool down, and I decide to stop by and see Gabe Mendez on 27th. We go round and round, and come to find out he claims he pulled the springs from another truck to put on my coworkers truck. Because he had to get rid of the complaint truck first. Then he realized that me and the complaint trucked worked together. He then started apologizing, not that he did wrong but that he was caught doing wrong by not fixing vehicles in a first in-first out scenario. I then proceeded to contact toyota corporate with my complaint on the dealership service dept, and got a very hastily reply from them followed by a phone call, they notified me that my springs were on a ship in Ontario Canada and would be here by the following week and she would call me back if anything changed. Flash forward to March 8, 2017 toyota corporate called me back and said that they had scheduled me an appt with Loving on the March 10, 2017 on my behalf and that Loving service dept would be contacting me soon. About 30 mins later, Jimmy called and said that my appt would be Friday March 10, 2017 at 9:15 am and that the service would now take up to 4 hours. When I arrived at the service dept on Friday they weren't friendly (didn't figure they would be since I made a formal combine against them and the lack of faith in the that I had) 2.5 hours into the service I am told that my truck is finished. On my way home I hear a nice little rattle coming from the passenger rear side. I get home and climb up under my truck and, guess what?! My lack of faith in their service dept didn't let me down. My passenger rear lower shock mount was barely hanging on, it was so loose I could take it on and off with 2 fingers. By the way its a 17mm bolt, if anyone needs to know... I advise anyone in the deep east Texas area NOT to have your service ever done with these incompetent morons.

Well, I got another reminder letter that mine had not been done yet so I called corporate and inquired about my paypal trans buying a set of non-recall 2014s and getting reimbursed. Surprisingly they said just send copy of paypal trans, copy of registration and gave me a case number. So I faxed copy of paypal transaction, copy of same trans coming from my bank acct, pic of the new leafs & copy of registration. Plenty of stuff to tie together paypal trans to my bank acct and the payee and the parts on my truck. Hopefully it'll just be getting the $300 I spent back. Seems better than them forking out 1150 worth of parts/service to put another new 4 leaf set on the truck. We'll see how it plays out.

Do you even really have a Tacoma if your leaf springs don't squeak

What a nightmare. Make sure to check the torque on the U-bolts. I wouldn't trust them on that either.

Am I reading this correctly, there are two different sets of recall springs? Normal recall springs and TSB recall springs. If so, what's the difference in the two?
    Thanks

well that's not good. have you checked Toyota.com and your VIN# is qualified for it? If so, call Toyota corp and tell them the hassle you're getting from the dealer?

Tried everything, called corporate, contacted everyone through social media. In the end they offered me a $400 discount off of $1700 worth of shit. Fuck them, I love this truck but fuck their company I'll never give them another dime again.

The recall was to address the inadequate clip situation. Leafs breaking a certain way wasn't something that was being addressed.

yes it was, I read the paper for the other years. It said they can brake and cause danger to the fuel tank. Mine did the exact same thing. They are replacing a bunch just not the 2011-newer as of right now

Right, but the remedy is to replace it with a leaf pack that has a better clip setup to prevent the broken leaf from hitting the fuel tank. If the leafs on your truck already had the proper leaf/clip setup, then you aren't eligible for the recall.

I'm dropping my 2011 DC off at Toyota of FWB this Tuesday. I only have 3 clips on the non-tsb 3 leaf pack. The rep setting up the appt said the parts were in stock for my truck. I have a 1" block under a 2" Deaver AAL. They have all day to install the new leaf springs so maybe this will be painless LOL

I have an 08 Tacoma that has had the leaf springs replaced under warranty by previous owner. I inspected them and going by the recall images on this thread, I was not eligible to have them replaced. I called my dealer and they said bring it in because they have been changing 90% of them. 2 days later and 2 hours in the waiting room and I left with new leaf springs. So if you looked at the recall images in this thread and the images suggest that yours wouldn't replaced, take it to the dealership anyways and they may replace them.
