no... I was on a budget ....got this cheap need work but its not bent or cracked...l. guy who sold me had the exact same truck as mine, but he sold the truck, only thing I need is the wiring harness, he said that he didn't want to spend the time taking it off his truck before he sold it... and the plow need a cutting edge.. I paid $350, its looks in good shape don't know for sure what else it may need , this will be a summer project. I surely wish I had it this morning, we got almost 2 feet here in northern New Jersey...

I am using Toyo Open Country AT II and I plow with no extra weight. I imagine having a little extra in the rear would help but I have been ok without it.

Stock now, but planing on upgrading audio system, proguard rack, rear work lights and tow hitch.
I run a snowdogg md75 on my 09 double cab. Handles all the snow, no problem. I plow 30 houses and run Cooper M+S 245/75 on factory steel rims, never slip.

Hey you sound like just the guy I want to talk to. I have a half mile long dirt driveway. When I bought this house I became convinced I needed a more heavy duty truck, so now I'm in a 3/4 ton duramax with a Fisher XLS. I'm looking to get back into a Tacoma. Do you think a Tacoma with a Snowdogg plow is up for that? I have a decent sized Kubuta 4x4 that I can use to push the banks back if needed. One of my concerns is how high the Tacoma can lift the plow?

For the driveway your describing the a full size truck would be better suited. You could get away with the tacoma and snowdogg, its medium duty plow. If your going to do your driveway only, doable. However if you have a plow it usually leads to plowing others as well and in that case I would keep full size truck.
I bought my plow to do my own, my mother's, and in-laws only and almost bought a homesteader. Glad I got snowdogg as I no have 30 accounts.
Do you plow other driveways, if so are they as large as yours?

You can adjust the chain slack to get a pretty good height if needed.

I only plow my driveway. I work at a freight railroad so my schedule is so busy and unpredictable I couldn't reliably plow anyone else's driveway even if I wanted to... and the in-laws live a couple hours away so I'm safe from that too.

The reason I was asking about the height is because of the two steep hills. I have to get a run at those and get out to the main road to turn around and plow downhill. They're steep enough that my tractor won't make it up them with snow even in 4x4. But I don't currently have chains on it. If I was going to start relying on the tractor to help with snow removal I'd invest in a set of chains.

Sounds to me my set up would not be as effective as a duramax. Having the extra weight is needed especially if your pushing snow uphill.

I don't even bother trying to push the snow uphill. Even with the duramax and studded duratracs it won't plow up these two hills.

I think your better off keeping what you have vs downsizing to tacoma. Or get the taco and buy an older fill size truck and through you plow on it.
