West of Austin would be my choice if I could do it over again. TO be specific, West of the Pedernales in Blanco or Llano counties. Thats just me. Id want to have some land and get the hell away from austins traffic and all.

Depends on your job, really... tough to afford west of Austin close to town, and quite a hike to live farther west and work downtown.

I'd go east (East Riverside is blowing up), southeast, or farther south. North is meh.

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, the jobby is the issue really.

In school for Organization Leadership, and I'm pretty much a chameleon. ( I can learn anything...)

So I'd really be interested in companies that have either apprenticeships, or a strong mentorship culture.

Whatever you do- don't make it sound like you just want the job you're applying for because it'd help you get to Austin. I've interviewed far too many people where that's their favorite thing about the job I posted and it's an immediate "thanks, no thanks" for them.

Oracle is opening a huge campus in East Austin with some entry-level "millennial" type jobs. Might be a good place to start. Still some reasonable housing not far from there (look farther east) with lots of amenities- including Google Fiber later this year.

This is true. There are about 40k people a year moving to this area. The area South of Austin, Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, is the fastest growing area in the history of the US. You will find many dwellings available there at a reasonable rate. You are then slave to I-35 to get into Austin or the tolled, 80-85MPH, 130 toll road. To be close to trails, IMO, you are better off way west vs way south.

I would strongly suggest against choosing where you live based on your weekend plans. Better to do a 90-minutes-each-way drive on Saturday/Sunday than fight traffic for 30 extra minutes twice a day, five days a week.
