I didn't get it for a few reasons, lots of reports about the electrinic one breaking and people not being able to get into there tailgate, if they have something like a cover that closes down, then for both models I've read about the plastic handle snapping off.

Don't hate on Ford Rangers, I had one, best vehicle ever. Was reliable as fuck and I was an asshole to that truck (mid 20's guy with a lead foot). 110k miles = front brakes, one battery, one MAP Sensor (Ford paid for out of warranty), and one headlight bulb. That is all I had to do to that truck. Saw it last year parked at a neighbors house, one of the landscapers or workers was still driving it past the 200K mark and it hadn't changed at all.

    Pictures of that head unit.

The 5500 is the same unit, this is the Wally World variant.

I have an electric one that I wired to my passenger doors so that it unlocks with my keyless entry. It's pretty awesome especially with the tonneau cover when I put stuff back there and don't have to worry about it being secure. I bought all the pieces separate which cost me about $30 I think (I already had a couple of the parts), but the pop and lock kit is basically plug and play.

Check out this thread: 2nd page about 1/2 way down, all in like $25-30

Not much of it is really a ranger minus the engine and body. There's a variety of mixed parts that have been bolted and welded on this pig from various manufactures... Toyota, Chevy, Chrysler/Jeep, and some ferd.
