Okay, after reading all I can stand to read... I have decided to pull the trigger and buy a TBS. I found one on Amazon for $37 bucks shipped. It isn't a purdy painted blue one, I think it's composite plastic? (or something like that).
My reasons are (although many say these only help in the lower RPM range) my 2010 4.0L is strongest and pulls well in the lower RPM's. The torque is good there as well. These engines seem to flat-line at around 5 grand so why try to push em? Why not improve on what you already have to work with?

Comparatively speaking it is only 37 bucks. In the grand scheme of things it's very, very cheap.

ugh.... throttle body spacer is going to do you 0 good.... the ONLY time a throttle body spacer helped was back in the early 90's when throttle body injection was a thing (read, injectors at the throttle body and not at the intake port). This allowed the air and fuel to mix better before hitting the cylinder.... tacomas have multi port sequential fuel injection, and a throttle body thats WAY before the intake runners / plenum.

NOW, if you bought something like the XTP INTAKE manifold spacer, that goes between the upper intake and lower intake that increases the length of the intake runners, then you would see a difference.

It's fuel injected. You can't throttle body a fuel injected vehicle. In the same way you can't do the tornado/vortec thing either. Honestly, truthfully you wasted $37. Any gains felt will be purely a placebo effect. Dyno's have imperially proven these to not work on fuel injected vehicles.

Edit - I have a manifold intake spacer and that DOES make a difference.

throttle body spacers like stated work on TBI where the injectors are at the throttle body.... but port injection which is pretty much everything since early 90s they are a bunch of snake oil.

You're correct. I wasn't specific enough regarding what type of fuel delivery system it would and wouldn't work on.
