Okay, here we go. They'll be posting in the forums shortly, but in the meantime, here's the important info:

So a few days ago I snagged a TracRac T-Rac G2 off Craigslist. Came with everything for the Tacoma, including the tool box mounts. 5' beds are pretty useless for hauling long stuff, and ever more useless for hauling anything when you have 20" deep tool box too. The price and condition were right, so I bought it. Figured if/when I move up to a bigger truck, I can probably use this rack on it too with a different clamp kit. If not, sell it, no biggie.

I wanted to figure out a way to adapt my existing bike carriers to use with the T-Rac. I used to have some cut-down Thule bars mounted to the bed rail tie downs, and then I'd mount my Thule footpacks for bars to those bars. They are pretty versatile, and I'd had to get rid of them. The T-Rac and my old bar setup were no longer compatible.

My old method worked OK for hauling the kids bikes on camping trips or over to Lake Chelan, but the bike racks stuck out about 1 foot past the bed of the truck (dangerous to passers by). They were also pretty low, and with bikes in the racks, I couldn't open the tool box. Anything that went into the bed had to be 20" or shorter to fit as well.

I don't have a great picture of that setup, but you can get the idea:

    old bike rack setup (2).jpg

You can just barely make out the bottom Thule bars (4 silver dots)

So, a quick trip to Metal Supermarket and Lowe's, and I made some bars to go from the front T-Rac upright to the rear. They mount into the top t-slot, so I can move them around, take them out entirely, etc. Not 100% finished, waiting for some actual T-bolts to show up, and then I'll put some end plugs in them too.

Anyway, to these new north/south bars, I mounted the Thule footpacks and Thule 65" bars, then added the bike carriers (can have up to 4, only 2 on right now.)

    So.....

    1lfipp.jpg

    triple bar setup.jpg

Yeah, that's a lot of freakin' bars! Probably should have taken a picture in front of Doofer's (a bar), just to have even MORE bars in the photo!

    But hey, it works, right?

Have to really start watching my height now. With this Beverly Hillbilly setup sans bikes, I'm at 7' 2", so I figure 7' 3" minimum clearance. My garage opening is 7' 6", so I can just barely get in and out. Put a bike on there and I could star on the 11' 8" Bridge website....

all are welcome to the run really.

but we would prefer if you plan to attend if you could join the event on the group page so we can have a decent idea of how many burgers/hotdogs to buy

Any of you nerds going to Watershed? My wife wants to check it out this year so I bought a couple tickets and a campsite. GA tickets are sold out, of course, but they're only marked up ~100% so far on CL...

Not going this year, but I wish I was. Great lineup. I went year before last. Ridiculously fun. The general camping area gets crazy so we got a site in the family camping, which was perfect. I'd recommend bringing a trailer or something with AC. It was almost 110 degrees the year that I was there and there is little to no shade anywhere. Totally worth it, though.

i went last year as well, lots of fun beer in the venue is expensive and they have free water fill up stations inside as well. it was really hot during the day and cooled of at night. Gen pop camping is crazy and a long walk to and from the concert and they pack you in there pretty good as well

I have some with a few broken tabs that can easily be fixed. I have the broken tabs and they are clean breaks.

Haha yeah, I am tempted to just buy some Depo ones for my year to practice on. What's wrong with your headlights? They looked in decent shape!
