Id say, at least make them use black weights, blend in better

That's a shit ton. That's a lazy tire tech that isn't willing to take the tire off and reset. But may have been better for the OP as he may have scratched again..lol.

Ahhh i know :( I saw that when I was taking pictures of the tires and was like WTF is that? I don't know if anything could be done about that? Could I ask them to redo the balancing when they replace the scratched ones you think?

Be shure they don't replace your rims with "TRD Type Rims", you want new OEM Toyota rims

Yup, take tire off. Move it a little and place back on wheel.

I'm glad I have relatives that own a tire shop and know I'm fussy. I took my freshly powder coated wheels to them and they let their senior guy on their newest machine do the instal. Never a scratch on my wheels.

Hard to find a shop like this, but ask around. I know it's kinda late now, but there's always next time.

Do tires still have that little dot that you're suppose to line up with the valve stem?

I noticed that too, still trying to figure the techs reasoning behind it.

Yeah but seriously what do you say? Walk in and make a special point of asking "hey so if I pay you guys to install my tires you won't fuck up my wheels right"??? Or "do me a favor put your extra careful senior tech on this job and I'll slip you a crisp one" while handing him a $5 bill???

If you're up front with them and say rims are new, any scratches and you'll buy me new rims, and if they agree then proceed. If not take your business elsewhere.

99% of people don't give a fuke these days about a little scratch on a wheel.

Yes definitely palm that bill descretly

That I don't know. But even then, that may not work with the wheel.

LOL, I would tell anybody that came in like that to kindly take their business elsewhere. Thats like the douches that lay money on the table and say they are going to take a dollar off each time you don't get good service.

Yeah I'm sure it will go down just like that. If I worked there I'd tell you to get the fuck out of my store if you came in demanding shit like that.

Then elsewhere is where I'd go. If they are so incompetent they can't install a tire on a $350 wheel (Canadian prices) I'd laugh and go down the road.

Ok big shot. If they can't do their job they should find a new line of work

I've had tires put on my trucks and cars by the same family owned shop For decades and they have never scratched my wheels. It can be done, and if they told me to get out of their shop I'd thank them for admitting up front that they were incompetent and unable to properly do their job. Have a nice day

But your coming at this, after saying you take wheels to relatives. Next time try going to a regular establishment. You have to go in respecting the business and the employees. Otherwise you may not have your wheels damaged, but you will get shit customer service.

Look I understand what you're getting at but there are more tactful and diplomatic ways of asking about the potential of wheels getting scratched when they install. It's not like the tech or manager went in there today wanting to scratch a customer's wheel potentially risking their job and costing the store/company money.

Get free replacement wheels per their offer and get them installed somewhere else. Honestly surprised they're willing to do that. I had a Ducati dealer scratch the rims on my 748 and then I noticed they ordered and installed the wrong size as well. They later went out of business.
