Sand in my taillights... Wtf? --- solved! Toyota gave me new ones

Is this why it is called turd gen?

This is one of those recall situations. If they figure out the problem theyll have to replace a million of them

 

Is this an isolated incident with the Pro tails? Or have other Pro owners had similar problems?
Just asking because I ordered some Pro tails today but now this has me thinking.

 

I'm wondering the same thing. Anyone else with TRD pro tail lights that off-road experience this?

 

Cannot comment on sand in Pro tail lights, as my Pro has never left asphalt.

I mean theyll replace them if there's any issue... but it was both left and right

 

Well seeing as how my truck wasn't originally equipped with this variation of tail light and that I will install myself, you can see where the warranty part might get tricky.

 

If you have your dealer install them (I know, I know). A genuine OE part installed by a dealer? Should have no problem then if this were to happen to you.

 

Yeah I thought about it in that regard. I'm probably best off eating the dealer labor cost and have the peace of mind down the road.

I bought pro tails too, just gonna take my chances with them and install myself.

 

maybe talk them, you do all the prep, and after, they just need to place them in? Trying to think outside the box. Actually I thought they were a closed unit and it would only be putting them in and connecting, but my knowledge in this area is minimal.

 

Got my taillights warrantied by Toyota and now there's more sand in them! Back to the dealership
