Can't believe I am saying this but the new hood actually looks really good on the Pro. It took some balls to change it out after paying the extra money for the Pro. Surprised you didn't just pick up a TRDOR. I almost did and figured I could always pick a scooped hood to give me the Pro look.

I can afford to put on an OEM flat hood and keep the stock PRO if I didn't like the change. So far I like the change. The PRO is AWESOME, loving the suspension!

The hood scoop is functional. You might regret this decision once your hood starts to vibrate. The scooped hoods don't have that issue.

That being said, if we are talking about just looks, the non scooped hood does look better.

Hey man I paid good money for the sticker upgrade. But it was nice of them to throw in the bilsteins and a locking diff.

Looks a hundred times better. Scoop looks good on 2nd gen but the 3rd gen looks way better without it.

Still waiting on the delivery of my '17 Sport, which is supposed to arrive this week. But I'm not very good at waiting. So yesterday I went into another dealership for 2 things: 1) to confirm that the price I'm getting from my selling dealer (negotiated in January) is holding up; it is, about $1700 better; and, 2) to check out the impact of the scoop on forward visibility. I was able to sit in both an OR and Sport, side by side in an indoor lot, with the same vehicle model across the lot drive from each of them. While there was some loss of low forward visibility, it was not nearly as substantial as I had thought. Not so much worried about this for me, as I'm 5'11". But my wife will sometimes drive my truck and she's only 5'1". Guess she can use a cushion if she has an issue.

I gather from TW that it's easy to find other owners who want the scoop, if I decide to go scoop-less. One question I have is how difficult is it to remove and reinstall a hood, going from scoop to non-scoop? I'm not the most mechanically-inclined guy but I can operate screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.

Too much time on my hands -- rainy, cool March in Seattle and I'm a retired guy with mostly outdoor interests.

Removing the hood consists of 4 bolts, 2 on each side, and unhooking the hose for window washer squirters. When reinstalling, you'll want to leave the bolts just a hair loose for body line adjustments then tighten when you're happy with alignment.

You mean functional that it doesn't have separation issues?

I like it w/o the scoop, but you could take the doors and tail gate off and I'd still love her. Anyone got pics of a white with red roof rack?

Like it. Good mod for wheeling. The hoods on these things are enormous. Coming from a Gen1, wheeling even with the non-scooped hood is going to be really hard to get used to.

I remember back in the 80's when the after market offered some low profile hoods for the old Toyota's and other PU's. I would seriously consider something like that for the 3rd gen if it would work and not completely destroy the look of the vehicle and it was more of an off road dedicated ride for me. Even coming out of the parking garage at work is spooky coming up the ramp with a sidewalk to the front. You could hide a family of 4 on the sidewalk in the dead spot in front of the hood.

Going to test it out off road soon, but am thinking I may be seriously considering a front mounted camera that I can toggle up on the head unit display somehow, and that can double as a dash cam.

Looks good. Makes me want to blackout the headlights on the offroad.

    all tore up already
You are wrong. It isnt a scoop anyways because its filled in. It is an anti-flutter structural reinforcement stamping to prevent the all too common highway hood vibration. Find one sport/pro hood in that thread n prove me wrong:bananadance:

Super clean. Unless that scoop is being used I never saw a need for them.

Nah, it wasn't that bad--just turned out that what appeared to be Marcia was misrepresented (as in "false")...
