So any of you have experience with counter offers to job offers?

I received my full time employment offer for the company that I have been working for for 2 years now, but would like to counter offer. Looking for some just general advice :)

Same here. About to decline an offer but may want to try to counter first. Although, I'm still leaning towards, if you undervalue Mr already, Wtf is going to happen later.

For me I really love the place, and have every intention of staying. However, I just feel that the offer is a true entry level salary. I'll take it, but I have 2 years of experience doing what I will be doing when I'm full time so I feel like I have some room to ask for a little more.

Mine is kind of the opposite. I love what I do where I do it and have no desire to leave. But if this other company wants me, they need to show me the money.

For me, they offered a higher salary, 8% but didn't factor in my cost of living changes.

Like cmack said you need to explain traits you have that would justify the difference. What do you bring to the table that would benefit them. I know that is just generalized info but if you were in charge of any projects or any tasks where you exceeded expectations you can bring that up also.

I just got on with another agency and I was prepared to make an counter offer but their first offer was what I was going to ask for so i just took it! But if you are going to counter you should have a really good reason, Schooling, experience and it always helps if you have done something to save your company money or what ever I don't know what you guys do so I cant really say but I ended up getting what I wanted.
