Not sure if many people know anything about this but first, I r3ad this: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/TrueTrac.shtml
If you read the part about the trutrac, he says the spinning wheel needs some sort of resistance to engage the LSD and apply torque to the wheel with traction. So my question is, since the auto-lsd is computer controlled and applies braking to the free spinning wheel, wouldn't that be perfect to mate with this TruTrac? That is, as long as the auto LSD braking applied enough force to apply the trutrac LSD.. anyways just wondering if anybody with more knowledge has some input.

    it would work great.

still wont be as good as a locker, but will be pretty damn good.

As mentioned above, this would work excellent. I've run Trutracs in previous trucks (without auto LSD). The auto-LSD is reactive, so significant wheel spin needs to occur before it detects and attampts to correct the slippage. The Trutrac torsion LSD will mechanically link the wheels making the LSD action more responsive. The LSD does require some resistance on the spinning wheel for the power transfer to go to the wheel with traction. In a low resistance scenario, the ABS can then provide the resistance to transfer the power.

I've contemplated swapping my OR 8" rear to the standard 8.4" rear so I can swap in a trutrac and run it with ATRAC. The setup would do what I need for my off road use and I would get way more use out of the trutrac on the wet Seattle area streets with my over boosted supercharger to provide traction than I do from my locker providing traction on the trail.

My only concern is that it will eat rear brakes.

Will likely technically reduce brake wear as the auto LSD will be used less as the Trutrac will engage first.

True, but it will still limit the fastest spinning wheel hypothetically

Yes, but the auto LSD is activated by difference in wheel speed across the axle. The Trutrac will reduce the difference in wheel speed across the axle, therefore the auto lsd should engage less, which would mean less brake wear not more.

The button on the dash is to select different driving modes. So if you want to turn traction control off or turn on auto LSD then yes you would use the button.

So normal driving around town w the button not pressed. Will the trutrac still function ? I’m trying to see what I need to do if I wanna do a burn out when I go to the track.

If you don’t push the button, then the traction control will limit engine power and not let the tire spin. 1 push of the button engages auto lsd and turns off engine management.

I don’t know that it would work this way. If the LSD works as it should then then you would have traction and then trac wouldn’t interfere. Either way I’d just hold down the trac button and shut everything off if you want to burn out.

I just got a trutrac installed. Without button pressed I tried to dump the clutch and the wheels spun slightly and trac light came on

Yea then kill it all. From a dead stop hold the button for about three secs and the trac off should illuminate.
