Nope, just waiting on HR now. I will be offered the Lander position and they understand if I take the Cottonwood position if it gets exempt from the freeze. Pretty much taking whatever gives me a final offer as both jobs are awesome.

 

If your replacing the ball joint, back the nut to the top of bolt (or put a new nut on) in case it ruins it and give it a smack with the hammer. Think it also helps to support the lower control arm so it's not binding.

 

When I put mine in. I just had my friend ty use a pry fork and then I tapped up on the uca arm with a rubber mallet. Maybe ask ur lady to give it a few swings

 

Getting the ubj out of the uca was the easy part iirc. It was getting it out of the sprindle that was the challenge.

 

If it was me, knowing what I know now, i'd just pull it all off the truck and do the work on a bench.

Ur taking the uca off right? So u just need to take the bolt out and undo the ball joint castle but from the spindle. Or are they different than second gens?

I had to laugh a little bit at this pic. You can see where someone has been pounding on the UCA trying to get the UCA off the BJ stud.

 

Ha weird it's upside down compared tot he second gen. My ball joint is pressed into the uca and the spindle has the castle nut. That's sucks! Must of changed a few and decided there was a better way.

 

Using these was the only way I could get my upper ball joint out of the spindle. Tightened one down as much as I could without it slipping off, then hit that flat spot on the spindle a couple of times with a hammer. Popped right out.

Up for sale my 1991 International School Bus converted to an RV, it has an
International DT Turbo Engine. This is basically a great clean slate of a bus
with solid insulation, that can be customized and easily modified. The bus
is well insulated with blue foam board, and an extra layer of ceiling
insulation. I lived in it for 5 years in Laramie, even through the winters. It
has a wood stove for heat, and in the summer I install a cooler unit where
the stove pipe usually runs.

Don't bother with the 3-jaw unless you need it to get the UCA off the UBJ. There isn't enough lip availble to grab the edges.

A kit like this stands a much better chance of getting the UBJ outa the spindle. And no need to buy them. Vatozone will have a loaner you can use.

 

PB Blaster and put nut back on so edge of nut is flush with bolt face. Get your mini sledge out and beat it like that birch owes you money.

 

Ben just cut the balljoint off you aren't reusing it or the arm so why waste time separating it. Even if you still want to separate it after, it will be easier when it's not in the wheel well.
