Going to do an Idyllwild run soon. Try and catch some snow before it's gone. Let me know if you are down and I will make a plan.

Had I known about my training today, I could have totally brought my guns and gone to the range during my lunch break. Instead I'm going to nap.

I'll shoot you a text when I have a better idea of my schedule. I'm thinking Wednesday or Friday would be ideal though.

Nice work. What is going to be in the gap underneath the slide-out box? I had a similar idea when I started mine, but the slide-out was going to be on the bottom, with the open flat surface on top.

I just did not like the idea of the weight of a full ice chest and spare tire being so high up, and it would have obstructed rear visibility. Plus, I got a last minute donation of a utility box that I was able to incorporate that saved me quite a bit on not having to buy the slide-out storage.

Thanks dude! I appreciate it. I'm probably going to drop that box down low and redo that whole part so that I can make a recession up front for a utility tool box and then it will be flat beyond that up top.

That will provide a good amount of secured storage space with 2 boxes, and sounds exactly like what I initially had set out to do. Having a 22re though, I did not want to over-engineer mine and weigh things down any more than my minimum requirements, but the 4.0 can certainly handle more.

And, since mine is in no way an expedition rig, I only need to carry the basics for a day out on the trail, and basic tools for trail repairs to get me out if needed. And to be able to secure at least 1 rifle.
