It was pretty hard to get it all back together once the new pieces were in...seemed like my key cylinder was too high. Had to push as hard as I could. The wiring was simple though thanks to this site.

Was lighted key ignition not an option for the Tacoma after a certain year ? My 97 has it but I don't think my 96 4runner has it

So I've had my pickup going on about 10 years now and I had always been very pleased with how it looked until about a month ago. Something in me just wanted a cleaner look and something that would turn some heads and who knows... maybe even get a compliment or two. Anyways, I started researching grills to find one that would suit me and what I was looking for. I came across this beaut and loved the look it had, so I bought it.

When it showed up I couldn't wait to get started and then the fun/exciting/frustrating work had to begin. It was pretty straight forward; cut out the center of the factory grill and replace it with the new one. Although, this would become the more frustrating part of the mod. There was some tricky corners and I made the dumb decision to get the cordless dremel and that cost me about 2 or three hours of time.

Once on my pickup, I was pretty stoked about it and then I was a picture of a new tacoma that had this american flag TACOMA lettering on the grill and I thought to myself, "Now I need to do that!" Soooooooo I started out just painting the lettering white and thought about just leaving it like that and not messing around anymore. and well as you can see I couldn't not go ahead with the original plan. A long night of meticulously taping and painting and measuring and boom! it was finished. I personally think its pretty bad ass.

Thought I'd share it with you all.
