I've had my fill of San Diego and all of Ca. I still have to go over occasionally but I won't move back. A couple of our campgrounds are on the Ca side of the river and sometimes that's too much. Some of those small town gas stations are almost $4 a gallon for gas. I try my best to do as much "local" business as I can to help the local economies, but I find some of it difficult.

Wham bam thank you mam, all the way to Escondido... Lived in San Diego back in the 70's for around 5 years. Of course with the Ozone Hole, climate change, etc. might have changed since then. But only Oahu Ha. was 72 everyday from the places I lived. Lady I am dating now has a daughter that lives in SD and she keeps us informed of the weather and asked how to start the fireplace not long ago. But it is pretty decent for CONUS no doubt about that! Her husband is from Az. and I went there for the wedding, brought back a lot of memories.

Northern Cali up into Wa. is nice, but rain and rot is a real problem. Literately. Asheville, NC is one of the better places I have lived but it does get cold in the mountains in the winter. But cold is a relative term. At least on the West coast you can switch between the coast and elevation of the mountains. It is a haul from Asheville to the coast. Traffic in Cali. though, grhh... And that was a long time ago not getting any better from what I have heard. And everyone wants to live there. And everyone wants to move the hell out of there. Much like Phoenix and Scottsdale. If you live in the "Valley" then those that live in the higher elevation and to the North look down on you. Figuratively and physically.

I think Hunter S. Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas applies. Or at least some of his short stories and the blacktop peeling and buckling in the heat. And have seen that in Mn. in the hot summer sun too. Black Flies. Mosquitoes. But at least once you hit the North Shore of Lake Superior ticks drop off. Damn ticks, they suck. Much like Leeches.

I used to live in San Diego from the late 80's thru 1999 and lived in numerous East County cities such as Santee , El Cajon , Lakeside , Alpine and Julian . I liked it a lot there and wouldn't mind moving back there
