Transmission flush mess up,

    I messed up the flush and I ran the line till air pushed out not once but twice... is there anyway to bleed the lines?

    That's the flush I was trying to do... do you know if there is a way to bleed the lines? I put to little into the pan and the pump, pumped until air came out.

    I don't think there is such a thing for tranny lines. Calling @gearcruncher, a resident tranny guru.

    Since the tranny was not under load, I doubt you did any damage. Just fill it up and measure that the tranny now has right amount of ATF.

    Sounds like you ran it a little low on fluid .
    The transmission cooler lines are basically a loop . The top line is converter discharge ( HOT ) oil that travels to your cooler to be cooled .
    The bottom line is fluid that has been cooled and returns to the transmission pan to be picked up by the transmission filter .
    If for some reason the oil feed dropped off when you were flushing your trans and nothing came out of the cooling lines but air , the transmission pump went dry for couple seconds .
    Make sure the truck is running in park when you fill the transmission up .
    Any air in the system will bleed off through the transmission vent at the top of the transmission casing . I have only seen a few transmissions air locked and the top vent was always plugged up when this happens.

    Is there a way I can verify that the air vent is open or can I rotate it to make sure it is open? Also I misstakingly lossened this screw in the top right of this diagram and only torque it back down a bit because I did not know how much to torque it down. Do you know the torque and function of this screw that hold the fork looking thing down?

    That bolt holds the temp sensor in place . I believe the torque is 60 to 100 inch pounds . I have that transmission manual but I have to dig deep into my pc to find it . Hold on . I will edit this post when i find it .
    Just to verify , you have a 5 speed auto or 4 speed auto ?
    If your air vent was plugged , your transmission fluid would be extremely black and managing to fill the transmission would be a nightmare .

    Hmmm, I thought it was only bad to have air in your brake lines during a flush... didn't think a little air in your transmission lines was that bad.

    That is the reason for the vent on the top of the transmission casing . Transmission fluid expands . All that extra air when the fluid expands has to go somewhere . And Toyota calls the 5 speed a sealed unit hehehehe .
    Every transmission has a vent to atmosphere .

    the front pump of the transmission bleeds everything. you can disconnect the lines an "get air" in them an just start the truck after hooked up an check fluid to verify level. that is all. not a complicated system at all

    I am talking about the top right almost to the edge of the picture, the bolt is kind of yellow and holds the fork looking think with a roller on the end.
