For me this setup is an interim solution until I buy a complete leaf pack and do the shock relocate. The shackle flip gives you more droop and IMO will require new shocks and bump stops that meet the new suspension travel. I don't think it is too soft but I want flex and wont be hauling anything other than gear. I don't notice axle wrap but you can feel a difference with the shackles flipped. when you leave a stop sign you can feel the as sink a little. I think they allow the springs to move easer.

Keep your eyes peeled for a new thread in Suspension. I believe it will be an enlightening experience in the old debate of stock shackles vs flip.

Will it be from jberry? He seems to really like going against everything TW, and a lot of it is true. Although, if you have the money and means to do fabrication, that's in a different league from most of us.

No, it will be from me. I had my own theory, and devised an experiment, and will reveal my results. I am sure many will be surprised by the results.

I did some before and after measurements with stock springs myself. Cant wait to see what you found to compare to what I found on a 2017.

I can tell you my measurements were about the same. I'm guessing by the numbers you posted, you measured the droop without shocks with both back wheels off the ground, because they would be the same as I got @26". However, when one side is stuffed and the other at full droop, I'm about 27 1/2-28". I must run a bigger tire, so my bumps are taller and my compressed is greater than yours?

    @ARCHIVE,

I bought and received your shackle flip kit for my 2012 TX Baja edition Tacoma which came with the TRD Bilstein 5160 rear shocks with reservoirs. I really want to install it as soon as possible, but my concern is blowing out my existing rear suspension system.

From what I have gathered, the TRD Bilstein 5160's are approximately 13.8" compressed and 23.2" extended; which is approx. 9.4" of travel. I say "approximately" because I have also read that these particular 5160's have 10" of travel.

I also currently have the AllPro Standard spring leaf packs, AllPro U-bolt flip kit, Timbren Bumpstops, and the AllPro extended brake lines.

    Questions:

    1. Would you know if the current Bilstein 5160's are the limiting factor of travel for my rear suspension?

    2. Will I be able to install your shackle flip kit without damaging my 5160 shocks in my current set up?

    3. If I absolutely have to change out my rear shocks, what length shocks would you recommend with your shackle flip kit and the AllPro Standard spring leaf packs?

    4. Is a shock relocation kit recommended or required with your shackle flip kit?

TIA for your time and look forward to your answers.

    1) Every truck is different, therefore you would have to install the kit and measure to find out how much travel you have and compare it to the specs for your shocks.

    2) Yes, so long as you stay within the specifications of your shocks (example: I have 5125's installed. I can easily install the kit, however most likely will not be able to use it to its full potential).

    3) Refer to answer number 1.

    4) No, however, it is recommended to achieve the maximum allowable droop for your setup.

I have absolutely no affiliation with Archive or the design of his product with the exception of purchasing it, however I did stay at a Holiday Inn Suites

Anyone have a picture with these installed? Also, can these go on a stock 2011 Off-Road without issues. I'll take the 1.5 of lift. Previous owner put tiny 1-inch spacers in the front, too. Meh.

Tacoma stock height has the shocks extended to ~19". So if you have 3" springs and then 1" from flip, you'll need longer shocks. You can look at the Bilstein B110s but they are 16.4" compressed so you may need to space your bumps to prevent bottoming, but you do have Timbrens. They are 27" extended
