I had a '78 CJ5 and a '79 CJ7. The 5 had something special that made it awesome. That was a 20-year-old ME holding the steering wheel. I put it places no one else could imagine. It was a 258 6-banger, but had the Borg Warner 4-speed (rare item) Also had a locker in the rear and a tru-trac in the front. 35" gumbo mudders on 3" lift. The 7 was 6" of suspension lift and 3" body lift with 40"'s. It ended up with a small block Chevy, 4-speed, full cage, tricked out leather interior and a 10 year older lunatic at the wheel.

I have a few old pics. I'll try to scan some of them when I can. The CJ7 was a show stopper! I'd park it somewhere and walk back out later to find people under it and all around it. That was back in my wild partying days. Hard to keep a low profile in something like that.
