Hey, Im from Alberta Canada and not new to the auto forum community but new to this site! Hope to post here a lot and learn some new things since I never really work on trucks or spend much time even talking or reading about them.

I needed a winter truck since im parking my car all winter to work on it. I always loved Toyota and ever since I saw the Top gear where they tried to destroy one but couldn't I thought it would be good truck to have as a DD and just bag around in.

Today I went down to the dealership not expecting to even buy one since I could get a better deal through a private buy but the salesman showed me this used 2005 Tacoma TRD extended cab with the OEM lift and decent tires on it. 6 speed manual with 45,000km and a 160,000 powertrain warranty on it.
They were pretty much liquidating all there excess used cars there since the dealer ship is moving. They wanted $21,000. Thats under black book price. I took it for a test drive and let me take it to a mechanic and he said its perfect condition. I paid all cash for this too. It was going to be for my turbo build but I don't need that right now in my car. I can also start to work on my car and not have to worry about when I need it so and so date to do something and not have to worry about driving it 1000km just to get a part or drop something off. I can also make my car a little more hardcore and not have to worry about long trips and other people driving with me. It wasn't all for me to. My mom needs a truck since she can never get back home to fort chip on the winter road so it will be nice for her when she needs it.

I had a chance to drive it 200km today now. There are A LOT of scratches on it. Not deep though so some polish and elbow grease will get them out. The weather stripping on top of the roof is missing on one side. Also one fog light is burned out. Oh and there is a burn mark on the passenger seat and I need to steam clean the inside. I couldn't find anything really big wrong with it so im pretty happy with what I bought.

I really don't know everything on this truck because when I asked the salesman he couldnt tell me. He said everything is OEM and was installed by them. The records never did show it though.

Nice truck there. If what they say is true about installing everything, watch out with that hood defector (if it's OEM). The brackets have been known to rub the paint off. :gossip:

bingo! Haha I started working in a COOP program in high school. 6 months of working out at the oil sands working on trucks then 5 months of school for two years. Then when I was done high school I had a high paying job at 18 making 85k+ year starting. Both the car and truck were paid in cash.

I know the guy who use to own that truck. I hope you had it looked at head to toe.(front to back) He was very hard on that truck. He 4wheeled the hell out of it. Liked to see how much air he could catch in it to. Crawl under that truck and take a good look. The burn mark is probably from his crack pipe .

Oh crap! That's the kind of thing I would like to know before I actually buy a vehicle. The stealership will tell you to suck it, its yours now if you tell them you found something jacked up. Hope it is still "sound" structurally, because it is a good "looking" truck.

I am a mechanic and I took it to a shop that helps me out. From what we can see, nothing was struck under neath the body. No odd sounds or out of the ordinary. The only thing replaced was the clutch when it was traded in.
